Born in Russia, Dr. Alexander Bokser immigrated to the United States at the age of ten. Settling in Kew Gardens, Queens, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 1994. He was licensed by the New York State Board of Regents and the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners.
Dr. Bokser completed his residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, affiliated with Albert Einstein School of Medicine, in 1995. Afterwards, he was invited to join the hospital as an attending, where he has been teaching ever since, assuming the role of educator and mentor.
Dr. Bokser has been in private practice since 1996 in Astoria, Queens. Dr. Irene Bokser, Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, joined the practice in 2009. She maintains her own practice in Bayside, Queens. Their practice focuses on oral rehabilitation, implants, cosmetic dentistry, periodontics, and general dentistry.
Dr. Alexander Bokser has received numerous awards in dentistry and community service and is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and North Queens Dental Study Club.
Dr. Bokser resides in Long Island, NY, with his wife, Dr. Irene Bokser, and their two children. He enjoys photography, the outdoors, travel, and most of all, spending time with his family.

This dentist is exceptional. Clean office, courteous staff, and highly qualified professionals. The only ones I trust in the neighborhood! I unfortunately had a terrible experience at another facility, and am grateful I was able to return here!

I went there 3 times (cleaning, filling, adjustment for same filling). I felt invalidated each time. In the cleaning, I expressed the way it was being done was painful (scrapping against my gums). I was told it was my gums that were sensitive (I’ve seen many dentists and never experienced this pain before). For my filling, I expressed concern around my nerve being incorrectly impacted) another dentist did this and caused me to need a root canal because the nerve died). I was told it wouldn’t happened and dismissed. Treated rough during the process even. For the adjustment, I felt sensitivity to temperature and when I chew post the filling (something that never happens except for once with the tooth where the nerve ended up dying because I didn’t speak up sooner). I was told it was a normal filling and that sensitivity is normal. I felt like disagreeing wouldn’t take me anywhere because I’ve been shut down in all other instances. I’m just switching providers point blank, unfortunately. Dental assistants are kind and they tried to be helpful at the front desk. So I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that their intentions are good. But my dental experience was just below average every single time (rough treatment, unreceptive to my feedback).

Fantastic dentist, the best I’ve ever been to by far. All of the people working there are extremely nice, friendly, and efficient. You can tell Dr Alexander is great at his job and expects the best from the hygienists. I don’t think I’ve ever waited for more than 10 minutes before being seen. Overall would highly recommend this office over any other.

Great office with extremely friendly staff! The staff and the doctor had a great bedside manner! So glad I came here for a second opinion on a tooth extraction! I was able to save my tooth and have the procedure done the same day, as well as a cleaning. The staff in the front of the house worked efficiently and diligently to ensure insurance coverage. All in all, I definitely will be sticking with this dentist.

Incompatible office vibe. Within the first 10 minutes while waiting to be seen, the wife, Irene, told someone in her staff that Vladimir Putin should come to the United States and would "keep people in line". As a progressive who cares about politics that was an immediate red flag but I had to get my bad tooth extracted, it was pretty much an emergency. But besides that she was rude to her receptionist, maybe they're use to her demeanor but it's not a good look from the outside. She has sort of an abrasive personality. She was very in a rush, I don't know where she had to be but she was in a hurry. As for the husband, Alexander, he was inconsiderate about my financial concerns when it came to my insurance. He explained to me how I should get a bone graft with the extraction, which was important and I did get it, but at first I was concerned about whether it would be covered by my insurance and he immediately disregarded it saying "I don't care about your insurance, I'm just telling you about your issues!" So like, okay, cool, but you're not paying my bills, I am. So that was weird. Then while checking out Irene mentioned how people should be working by now, kind of implying that people are being too lazy to work. I obviously don't agree but before hearing that I knew I wouldn't come back. Their dental work was solid, they got the job done for sure. But the office atmosphere and the interactions were off putting. And politics shouldn't really be discussed in the workplace, but if you feel proud to voice your opinions at work in front of your patients, don't be surprised if your patients don't agree and are therefore uncomfortable with using your services. Another thing, I saw on their website, why don't they take any government insurances? Not up for servicing poorer people I can't help but assume. I'm not sure why their reviews are so high, it is why I picked them. But after my appointment I read their lower reviews and they share similar concerns I had so I'm not the only one. I'm guessing they have a lot of conservative minded patients or patients that don't care. Unfortunately I do, and a shame, they're really close to where I live.

Doctor B. is good at his profession. He is kind of a serious person but I dont need him to be my friend per say, yet I need him to do a good job cleaning and caring for my dental needs and with this , he is skillful and has corrected crowns for me from other hack dentists, done extractions, root canal and fill ins. All his work is doing well in my mouth. And thats what matters.

I would give this unprofessional office negative stars if I could. I had an absolutely horrible experience there this morning, from the moment I walked in. I am pregnant, and throughout my cleaning (which was an abnormally short time...they didn't even floss) all five staff (two receptionists, two hygienists, and the dentist -- Alexander Bokser) commented -- multiple times -- on my weight and laughed about me "not showing at all." More than once, staff members said, "Where is the baby?" and "YOU'RE pregnant?!?!?!?" and then cackled with each other. I felt mocked and humiliated, and the way they treated me was borderline harassment.
This is no way to treat a patient. And they call themselves medical professionals.
Dr. Bokser also referred to me as "hon."
Also, the main receptionist is extremely unprofessional. I walked in and told her I had a 9 a.m. appointment, and she gave me attitude and said they were preparing paperwork. When I was leaving the office, she was on a computer where anyone could see her, and she was browsing clothes on Zara. She didn't wear a mask the entire time I was there.
And the temperature check requirement listed online is incorrect. Not only did they not check my temperature when I arrived, but there wasn't a COVID questionnaire or any verbal questions related to COVID, which is unlike every other medical office I've been in since March 2020.
