About Dr. Crystal McIntosh

Dr. Crystal McIntosh, D.D.S., M.S., currently resides in Washington, D.C., and is a full-time Associate Professor with tenure in the Division of Periodontics at Howard University College of Dentistry. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in May 2006 and completed her Master’s in Periodontics at the University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. McIntosh is a Board-Certified Periodontist with the American Board of Periodontology and an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Board of Periodontology, American Dental Education Association, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon. She currently serves as the Director of the Division of Periodontics. Dr. McIntosh maintains an active clinical practice limited to Periodontics in the DMV area, performing routine, esthetic, and regenerative procedures, as well as the placement of dental implants. Her research interests focus on the relationship between systemic diseases, periodontal disease, and pregnancy. She has published several scientific articles and presented her research findings both locally and nationally. From 2013 to 2016, Dr. McIntosh embraced her first love—service to the global community—by conducting mission trips to Haiti and Nigeria. Each year, she and four dental students provided oral health education and dental services, including extractions and dental cleanings, to impoverished areas of Ti Rivier, Haiti, and Enugu, Nigeria. While she has achieved many professional accomplishments, her greatest achievement is being a devoted wife and mother. Dr. McIntosh looks forward to meeting her remaining professional goals in the coming years and is excited to embark on them alongside her colleagues and patients.
