Dr. Cafarella received his B.A. in Psychology from Boston College, and his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He then completed four more years of advanced training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, earning his certificate in Prosthodontics. He is currently Board Eligible.
Dr. Michael Cafarella is a member of the ADA, the American College of Prosthodontics (ACP), the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) and the Northeast Gnathological Society (NGS).
Dr. Cafarella’s primary passion is his love for the art and science of dentistry. However, his interests and training go beyond the dental office. Dr. Cafarella is a long time practitioner in various martial arts. He earned his second degree black belt in traditional Shotokan karate and was team captain and instructor during his college years. More recently, he has expanded his interest to the study of Judo and Aikido. Training in this manner has helped him develop an appreciation for the strong mind-body connection.
Dr. Cafarella’s favorite idiom learned in martial arts training is tan ren, meaning “to forge” and “to polish”. This phrase literally refers to the traditional and meticulous sword making techniques of feudal Japan, but in practice, it elucidates the importance of hard work and repetition to develop skill. Dr. Cafarella acknowledges this challenge daily.

I love everyone in this office. Dr. Cafarella did a crown for me that was perfect and painless. The front desk people are terrific and Denise who did my cleaning did such a thorough job that I saw a difference in my gums the next day! Everyone here is welcoming and truly caring. They have a gentle, kind way that makes you comfortable and free from anxiety. I have used this office for years and would never go anywhere else!

I rarely to never leave a review for anything or anyone but I am making an exception for Dr Cafarella. I will start by saying that I have terrible anxiety about dentists due to extensive problems with my teeth throughout my life. He put me at ease with his demeanor and he did excellent work. I had a cracked veneer, he was concise, thorough and made sure I was happy with the result. His office staff is extremely welcoming and Ingrid his assistant is terrific.

Dr. Cafarella and his staff are fantastic. Dr. Cafarella explains everything clearly. I don't like doctors and dentists that are unfriendly and "stiff". Nobody in this office has ever made me feel this way. I feel at home and relaxed. No rushed cleanings that I have seen others complain about at other dentist's offices. The hygienists take their time to give you the best possible care, home care advice and are extremely kind, thorough and nice!!

I had a complicated dental issue, a broken implant with the screw broken off inside it. Dr Cafarella not only made me comfortable with what needed to be done, he did an astonishing job — winkled out the screw, removed the implant and put in a replacement, all in one visit. My general dentist was astonished. I’d never had to consult a Prosthodontist before — I recommend Dr Cafarella highly.
