Excellent psychiatrist. Good at psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. It's hard to find a psychiatrist that can do both well.

I saw Dr. Fisher for a little under a year. In that time, he was always on time and professional. However, I decided to move on and find an alternative psychiatrist after my final visit rubbed me the wrong way. First off, if you're looking for any type of talk therapy in addition to medication reviews, etc. then look elsewhere. While Dr. Fisher is very direct and informative when it came to medication recommendations and lifestyle changes, that was the extent of our doctor-patient relationship. There is nothing wrong with that, but after some time I decided I needed some talk therapy in addition to medication. After our first appointment together I was prescribed a certain drug for ADHD symptoms despite never having been diagnosed. I thought this was odd at first, but I didn't question it for some months because I thought the medication was working. However, I began to experience some uncomfortable side effects. My problem arose when instead of offering to adjust or change my current prescription, Dr. Fisher added an additional prescription, which when combined with the ADHD medication can cause a dramatic increase in the risk of seizures. This was never iterated to me until I performed an internet search and later consulted with a new psychiatrist. During the same appointment, he also decided to question my judgement during our routine conversations about how my relationship and career were going. Essentially, these two factors combined to make me feel like a lab rat rather than a patient receiving treatment. It was at that point that I decided to move on and find a different psychiatrist. I know not everyone needs someone to talk to, and most psychiatrists don't offer talk therapy as a service, but in this case I felt misunderstood and mischaracterized. That should never be the case in this sort of vulnerable situation.
Thorough and personable. A great psychiatrist
Excellent and productive.
Dr. Fisher is empathic, very up to date on medications, a great listener, and compassionate. He is also available in ways that I have rarely experienced. I know he is there if I need him. I have already recommended him. I am so grateful to have been referred to him.
Dr. Fisher exceeded my expectations at every level. He was very easy to talk to, at no point did I feel judged or uncomfortable sharing my story, and he just had a very nice way about him. Highly recommended!
I’ve been seeing him once every quarter — sometimes for med mgmt and other times for a full one-hour session. He has helped me to understand myself and the people and live/work with better.
Great. My first session. Dr. Fisher did a great job of letting the key concepts surface without forcing the conversation. Very comfortable. I'm already happy with progress made and optimistic about continuing with sessions/plan.
This was my first visit. I have been treated by other psychiatrists in the past but doctor Fisher gave me the most thorough and depth evaluation i have ever had. He doesn’t accept insurance but his hourly rates are reasonable.
His professional treatment goes wholeheartedly appreciated. I've felt cared for and understanding, both of which I'm grateful for.
Dr Fisher is a very experienced, knowledgeable and caring doctor. He is patient and a good listener who understands your needs. Highly recommended.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Fisher. He helped me through many dark times and for many years now, I have been enjoying life and reaching my goals, and I just check in with him twice a year to give him an update. He uses a combination of medication (if needed) and talk therapy and is an expert at both. I referred a very sick friend to him and she is a changed person.
I was very, very nervous going in but Dr. Fisher was very reassuring. He was very easy to open up to, and good at making me feel heard. I left feeling really confident that I’m on the right track towards better mental health!

The best psychiatrist, I've ever had
Excellent, insightful and truly helps better understand the root causes and solutions to help my work/life/relationship balance issues.
I've had Barry since 2013. Thanks to him I've finally recovered and will not longer be needing therapy very soon. If you want to learn to overcome life's barriers and struggles then Barry is the right person for you. I owe him my life!!
Set this appt up for my son who just moved to D.C. Dr. Fisher was accommodating with scheduling, caring, polite and kind. He called immediately to help figure out a scheduling plan that would fit work schedules best. A very positive and ultimately effective medical experience.
Dr. Fisher truely takes the time to understand his patients and cares about their physical and mental wellbeing. I could not have made a better decision on who to go to to talk about the stressors in my life.

It was a big step for me to make a psychiatric consultation appointment, but I'm so glad it did - and I'm especially glad I came to Dr. Fisher. He was extremely helpful, understanding, kind and informative. I got a lot out of this experience and am grateful for Dr. Fisher's expertise and guidance.
Dr Fisher is excellent, I would highly recommend working with him. He is kind, intelligent, pleasant and patient. I felt comfortable with him in a very short period of time. He also participates with a company that provides psychological genetic testing which gave me incredibly detailed and informative results on my genetic makeup and abnormalities and how they affect my mental health. It also rates possible medications by how effective they are (or are not) with my genetic makeup. It was very cool--I would recommend it to everyone!
