Psychologist
OH
**Dr. McGraw does not take insurance or prescribe medications** My Approach I am a trauma-informed psychologist in Phoenix, AZ, with a strengths-based approach grounded in the fundamentals of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe that everyone experiences situations that affect their beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and values-often with a negative impact. I strive to create a safe, caring, and compassionate environment to help you feel comfortable strengthening your connection with and understanding of yourself and your inner workings. I use a variety of scientifically supported treatments, including CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, to help you gain the skills you need to meet your goals. One of my core values is human connection. To quote my professional idol, Brené Brown, “connection is why we are here.” A common theme throughout treatment is that I will help you connect with yourself, which will help you connect with others and live a meaningful life. My Story I decided to become a clinical psychologist at 15 years old, realizing it was my purpose to help others live their best lives. My Education and Training I began my undergraduate studies at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, and completed my B.A. in Psychology at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. I then moved to San Diego to pursue my M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University/California School of Professional Psychology, focusing on General Mental Health and Trauma Psychology. I also completed a fellowship at the Carl T. Hayden Veterans Administration Medical Center, which enriched my clinical experience and deepened my commitment to trauma-informed care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to help you achieve your goals. I work collaboratively with you to help you live your best life. Sessions focus on building skills to have healthy relationships, learn how to tolerate, cope with, and reduce difficult emotions, improve thinking processes, and increase overall life satisfaction by bringing you closer to your values.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy begins with an intake session so I can learn more about you, understand your worldview, and potentially come up with a diagnosis. I recommend weekly sessions. These sessions are focused on building skills to improve emotion regulation, evaluate your thought processes, and engage in more helpful behaviors. My goals is to help you achieve your goals.
