About Dr. David Sands
Dr. Sands earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Since graduating, he has been in private practice, initially serving as the associate residency director for the Catholic Medical Centers of Brooklyn and Queens. There, he assisted department chairman Patrick J. Grisafi, DPM, and Associate Director Michael P. DellaCorte, DPM, overseeing both didactic and clinical training of resident podiatrists. In 2001, Dr. Sands became active in the St. Joseph's Hospital wound care center, where he trained under Michael P. DellaCorte, DPM, FACFAS.
In August 2001, Dr. Sands became Board Certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Two months later, in October 2001, he joined Dr. Grisafi in Jamaica Estates as his partner. By 2002, he was named Director of Podiatry at St. Mary's Hospital.
Dr. Sands worked with resident podiatrists at Caritas St. John's Queens Family Health Center and continued performing wound care and hyperbaric medicine at Caritas St. John's Queens Hospital Wound Care Center in Elmhurst, NY, until the hospital system was closed by the State in February 2009. In June 2007, he began working at St. Joseph's Hospital (formerly New Island) Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center in Bethpage, NY. Starting in July 2009, Dr. Sands also saw patients at the office of Dr. John Jackalone at New Island Hospital on Wednesday mornings.
In January 2021, Dr. Sands joined PRINE Health Medical Group, continuing his commitment to advanced podiatric care and wound management.
