Raab is Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. He received his M.D. from New York University, served an internship at Montefiore Medical Center, and completed ophthalmology residency at Mount Sinai. He organized its Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service, and has been its Director following fellowship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. While maintaining an active patient care and consulting practice, he has trained fellows and provided experience in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus to more than 150 resident physicians at Mount Sinai, in numerous Visiting Professorships at many medical institutions in the United States and abroad, and in eleven volunteer missions in India, China, Uganda, and Uzbekistan. Dr. Raab presently serves on the Board of Governors and the Ophthalmology Advisory Council of the American College of Surgeons, and is Past President of the American Orthoptic Council, the Greater New York Society for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the New York Pediatric Society. He is a member of the American Ophthalmological Society, one of the founders of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and a former member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Advisory Council. Dr. Raab has served on more than 20 occasions as an Examiner of candidates for the certificate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a recent Chair of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus volume of the Academy's Basic and Clinical Science Course, and serves on the editorial boards of Survey of Ophthalmology and the American Orthoptic Journal.
