About Dr. Emeka Nwokedi
Emeka Nwokedi graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia with a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree in 2003. During his training, he completed a clinical internship focused on eye disease diagnosis and treatment at West Chester Eye Associates, a respected center approved by the National Eye Institute. As a Texan, Dr. Nwokedi left Philadelphia in 2002 to complete a hospital-based internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, gaining valuable experience treating U.S. soldiers, especially in eye diseases and prescribing special eyeglasses for deployment to Iraq.
He also attended the University of Houston College of Optometry for Optometric Glaucoma Specialist training and was certified by the Texas Optometry Board as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist on December 7, 2007. He uses advanced equipment such as the Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer 11-i series by Zeiss, Zeiss GDX-VCC, and the Canon CR-DGi Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera (9th generation, 100% digital, 10.1 megapixel) for glaucoma patient evaluations.
The Texas Optometry Board also therapeutically certified Dr. Nwokedi to treat eye diseases in Texas. He enjoys treating patients with red eyes and is skilled in examining children, infants, and patients with double or blurry vision. His practice includes many contact lens patients and those needing eye exams due to diabetes and high blood pressure. Dr. Nwokedi is a member of the American Optometric Association, Cornea and Contact Lens Section, Texas Optometric Association, and Dallas County Optometric Society.
Outside of work, Dr. Nwokedi spends time with his wife Sylvia, their sons Emeka T.J. Jr. and Chetachi Vince, and daughter Adachiso Cherish. He enjoys vacations and watching basketball, especially the Mavericks and Sixers.
