What should a new client know about working with you?

Hi! I am a board-certified Psychiatry Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who diagnoses, treats, and prescribes medication for children, adolescents, and adults. Some of my practice specialties include (but are not limited to) Depression, Adjustment disorder, Parenting, Anxiety, Insomnia, and Bipolar disorder. Funmi's style of practice can be traditional (prescribing up-to-date psychiatric medications) and psychotherapy. I believe in the mind/body/spiritual connection.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My greatest strength is my great listening skills. I assist clients in achieving their goals with open communication and by embracing great options to promote a healthy and sustainable healing process. The first session is to get to know the patient's background and understand the root cause of what led to the mental health problem(s). The patient will be presented with different treatment options to explore. Will collaborate with the patient to facilitate the best option/plan of care. I utilize prescription medications, psychotherapy, and counseling; I also use referral strategies to meet the needs of the clients.
