I have been going to Dr. Ashraf for approximately 2 years and have been impressed with her professionalism and her kind ways. She is thorough, explains very well and is a great listener. She is simply superb and her nurse (Jacquie) is simply lovely.

The appointment with Humaira Ashraf, MD Physiatrist at Medstar NRH was very thorough, informative, and beneficial. She has a calm and relaxed approach with a fairly extensive and comprehensive evaluation including medical history, functional movement assessment both static and dynamic, ROM test, and palpation. Then Dr. Ashraf provides a clear plan for treatment to improve the condition, and answers all related questions. One suggestion, arrive 20-30minutes early for your appointment to get full use of visit time, without being rushed. Overall, Dr. Ashraf is an excellent Physiatrist to assist with musculoskeletal pain/injuries using non-surgical treatments.
Verified patient
I am very pleased with the care I am receiving. My doctor was very helpful and we have another follow up appointment to discuss the X-rays and next steps.
Verified patient
Dr Ashraf has always been thorough in asking and answering questions. She has a pleasant manner, and is straightforward in explaining treatment. I would recommend her to anyone.
Verified patient
My initial visit was great. My doctor reviewed and listened to my concerns, discussed options, and recommended treatments. I left the office knowing next steps and that I was in good hands.
Verified patient
I needed a therapist with my doctor's order. Dr. Humaira Ashraf understood that. She said 'You don't need me, I will not send you a bill'. She was so nice and very supportive. She also helped looking for therapy center information. I really appreciate her help.
Dr. Ashraf is a good provider and provides thorough evaluation of prior medical history, current medical conditions, and discussion of treatment options. The one thing is, Dr. Ashraf is rather brief in her explanation of medical findings from imaging and evaluation, and will discuss her treatment recommendations, but may not mention other potential treatments if she does not perform that procedure. So, Dr. Ashraf is a good Physiatrist to provide non-operative treatment for musculoskeletal conditions to assist you on your journey back to good physical health, function, and quality of life. One recommendation is before the visit, to read your medical notes from prior visits with Dr. Ashraf and/or other physicians, radiology reports from related imaging, and review current treatment options and guidelines for your musculoskeletal condition including treatments in development. This will allow you to be better informed to discuss your condition and treatment options during your visit.

She’s great, definitely helped me with getting the additional referrals needed for the type of follow up care required; Highly recommend this doctor, very helpful and understanding. Kind and caring
Verified patient
Apart from her competence, which seems excellent, Dr. Ashraf makes eye contact and listens. (Surprising how many doctors don't.) Then she explains clearly and welcomes questions. I am confident of her treatment.

I received a thorough history and physical and a treatment procedure in my first visit. A referral for a diagnostic procedure was received and the risk/benefits of a more invasive procedure were explained.
Verified patient
Dr Ashraf gave a very thorough exam. And it was clear to me that she'd reviewed prior scans and offered really good suggestions for moving forward to resolve my issues. Very happy with my choice.
Verified patient
Dr Ashraf was very progressive and thinks about the whole person when identifying the problem. She was kind, passionate and very proactive. Would highly recommend her!

The questionnaire to be completed prior to the visit was an absolute nightmare! Too much information was requested, it took too long to assemble all of the answers, and the questionnaire would disappear if the information was not provided fast enough - this required several restarts and several insertions of the same data. My primary care physician recommended a physical therapy appointment at the Bethesda NRH facility. I made an appointment with a physician at NRH, expecting an evaluation by her followed by a referral to an NRH physical therapist - a usual sequence for most specialty referrals. The physician was condescending, implying that I was stupid, which I am not.
Dr. Ashraf listened to my description of the pain I was having around my SI joint, did mobility tests to help diagnose the source of the pain, and recommended a further diagnostic procedure to confirm whether it was my SI joint or referred pain from something else before starting physical therapy or any other therapeutic approach. I really appreciated how she asked questions and listened carefully to what I said, and she also made recommendations for things I can do in the interim to safely address the pain. I really feel I'm in good hands.

Solid experience. Dr. Ashraf was professional and efficient. Her office a bit less so. I was on time and spent a fairly long time waiting because the receptionist took a while to check me in. Then I waited a while to get my X-rays done.
