About Dr. Jannet Lewis
Jannet Lewis, M.D., F.A.C.C. is a Professor of Medicine and cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology at The George Washington University Medical Center. She is Director of Noninvasive Cardiology and Director of the GW Women’s Health Center. Her major clinical interests have been in the use of echocardiographic techniques in assessment of patients with heart diseases including hypertensive heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, as well as issues particularly relevant to women.
Her career has also been spent largely in the education of medical and cardiology trainees. The most recent presentations at national research meetings have been with students, residents or cardiology fellows under her mentorship. She was awarded a teaching award at the University of Florida and received the Association of Black Cardiologists Hero Award.
Dr. Lewis is a member of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and the American Society of Echocardiography. She has served on a number of committees in these organizations, including positions on Women in Cardiology Subcommittees and Imaging Committees. She is currently serving as cardiology consultant on Department of Health and Human Services/ Office of Women’s Health contract: Evaluation of the “Make the Call, Don’t Miss a Beat” Campaign using the National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS).
Dr. Lewis received her undergraduate training at University of Louisiana, attended medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After fellowship, she received further training as an adjunct researcher at NHLBI.

I will not give reviews from a first impression anymore. Long story short the medication gave me a reaction. I let the doctor know she put me on another medication that still has not helped my blood pressure go down enough. I’m not happy with my current numbers but she like oh it’s fine. I am not a fan of the dr office . No matter how early you always wait . But not at Dr Lewis office . The front office staff was as kind and efficient as the back office .. the kindness and compassion shown me by Dr Lewis was unforgettable she put me right at ease . She was calm and patient no matter how dumb my question was. This is how one should be treated at the dr office . Dr Lewis took her time to hear me and my concerns along with my fear. I don’t encourage anyone to have a heart issue but if you have one she is the only Dr I would want . She is the Advocate for her patients best out comes.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Lewis. My wait time to see her was very short. My initial interaction with the nurse was very positive and pleasant. Dr. Lewis came in to see me quickly after I was seen by the nurse. Dr. Lewis was very pleasant in her initial interaction with me. She was very thorough in her examination, asked me lots of questions, responded to all my questions, and made appropriate follow-up recommendations. She was very respectful and pleasant in her manner. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Lewis.

Dr. Lewis is very thorough and does not request unnecessary test if the examination does not warrant it. She is very friendly and answers all your questions. I even asked her about the Plant Base diet approach to a healthier you and she was not opposed at all. She also communicated that she responds to the patient questions from the secure emails sent in zocdoc. This is very good when doctors are too busy to get back to you via phone call.
