Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
4600 Sheridan St, Ste #400, Hollywood, FL
I'm Dr. Jared Mendelsohn, a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. I provide personalized, evidence-based mental health care with compassion and respect. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where patients of all ages can feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. I received my bachelor's degree at the University of Pennsylvania where I majored in the Biological Basis of Behavior and studied how our genetics and experiences affect our outlook, behavior, and overall mental health. I then worked at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where I researched methods to decrease pain in children undergoing surgery. I earned my medical degree (MD) from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and completed an internship at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I completed a residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami. I'm board-certified in both psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry (ABPN). With over a decade of experience, I’ve helped individuals and families navigate anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, OCD, trauma, self-esteem issues, life stressors, parenting challenges, marriage, and more. I use a comprehensive treatment model that may include psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and medications when appropriate. I believe in collaborative care and tailor my approach to each person’s unique needs. I offer in-person appointments at my office in Hollywood, Florida, as well as convenient telepsychiatry services throughout Florida and Washington, D.C. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or your child, I offer a warm, inclusive space where you can begin the path toward healing and balance. Let’s work together to help you or your loved one move forward with strength and clarity. I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs and how I can help.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to psychiatry is patient-centered, collaborative, and compassionate. I offer a calm, supportive space where you can feel heard and understood. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, OCD, self-confidence issues, parenting difficulties, challenges with work or relationships, marriage, or other life stressors. I take time to understand your unique needs before recommending treatment. I combine psychotherapy, lifestyle guidance, and medication management when appropriate. My style is warm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental. I aim to create a trusting relationship where you feel safe to share. In our first session, we’ll discuss your goals and challenges and work together to build a personalized treatment plan. I also have specialized experience working with children, teens, families, and adults. I offer both in-person visits and telepsychiatry across Florida and Washington, D.C., with flexible scheduling and a free 15-minute consultation to get started.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with building a strong, trusting relationship. During our initial consultation, I take time to understand your concerns, history, and goals. We’ll explore symptoms, past treatments, family and relationship dynamics, and lifestyle factors that may be affecting your mental health. Next, I develop a personalized treatment plan, which may include therapy, medication management, and holistic strategies involving sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction. I explain all options clearly and answer any questions so you can make informed decisions about your care. Follow-up sessions focus on tracking progress, adjusting the plan as needed, and providing continuous support. For children and teens, I collaborate closely with parents and offer age-appropriate tools for emotional growth. I offer in-person and telehealth appointments with flexible scheduling. The goal is always the same: to help you feel better, function stronger, and live with more clarity and balance.
