Dr. Javier Garcia received his Medical Degree from the National University of St. Augustin in Arequipa, Peru. Dr. Garcia finished his residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. During his senior year of training he performed as administrative chief resident. Dr. Garcia has also undergone two years of Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. This comprehensive training allows him to have an integral approach to health and the experience to care for patients with higher risk conditions.
Following residency, Dr. Garcia was instrumental in developing a new hospital-based Obstetrics & Gynecology department for a Non-Profit organization in Kentucky. During that five year commitment he was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Marshall University, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia and at Pikeville College, School of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.
During his academic years, he contributed to multiple research publications including co-authoring a book chapter dedicated to prevention of surgical site infections. Dr. Garcia is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The focus of our Practice is to provide comprehensive and personalized obstetric care. We provide treatment for most gynecologic conditions including pelvic pain, irregular menstrual bleeding and abnormal PAP Smear results. Dr. Garcia has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery including complex laparoscopic procedures such as hysterectomy, excision of pelvic cysts or masses and hysteroscopy. Additionally, his scope of practice also includes evaluation & treatment for urinary incontinence and pelvic reconstruction for prolapse.
Dr. Garcia and his wife, Yeraldine Toledo who is a Cardiologist, have two children. He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys traveling and the arts in his free time.
