About Dr. Jean-Pascal Simon

Jean-Pascal Simon, MD graduated from University of Paris V, Rene Descartes, with a Silver Medal for his thesis "Conization of the Cervix for Pre-cancerous Lesions." He completed his residency in France in obstetrics and gynecology as an "Ancien Interne des Hopitaux de Paris," with rotations at Hotel Dieu, Port Royal/Cochin and St. Vincent de Paul, and also served as Assistant Director of Clinique Spontini.
As a Fulbright Fellow, he came to New York in 1982 for his research and clinical fellowship at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, 168th Street campus. Board-certified in both France and the United States, he is also one of the few gynecologists licensed to practice acupuncture in New York.

My experience was good. The only thing was I had to pay upfront. The doctor said when he gets reimbursed he will send me a check. Zocdoc said my insurance pays and I would only need a copay but that didn’t happen. Be prepared to pay for your shot.

Dr. Simon seemed nice enough and eager to answer my questions, but I’ve never experienced anything like what I did with him before. He told me that insurance doesn’t typically cover yellow fever vaccines, and that the vaccine typically cost $200+, which he’d charge me for upfront and then reimburse me for if it was covered by insurance. (My insurance has a minimal co-pay and I’ve never had any other doctor charge me more in-person, if I owe any more it’s usually in a bill mailed to my home address.) He then proceeded to charge me $500 upfront, and when I asked him what the extra charge was for, he said for the interaction. He did not even provide me a detailed invoice. I felt deceived and cheated, so much so, that my husband walked out of there to make another appointment at another appointment. Very unpleasant experience.

As a new patient to the practice, I had a great experience. I was looking to get my annual well women’s exam close to my office and I’m glad I was able to find Dr. Simon. Dr. Simon took me in when they were't suppose to take appointments! There was an error with the system but he insisted I come in since they're an office of their word. He was great and professional.
