“I need an Endoscopy and before you can get it you have to have an initial consultation. Put it this way- the doctor was really nice and I'm not afraid at all after he explained everything to me. I would recommend him. I also got a date and approval for the Endoscopy. No crazy waiting on approvals. I'd recommend Dr. Lee”

About Dr. John Lee

I have practiced gastroenterology for over 25 years. My interest in gastrointestinal (GI) medicine began while completing an internal medicine residency at Washington University School of Medicine. During that time, I was exposed to and fascinated by endoscopy, which uses fiber optics to visualize hollow organs such as the stomach, small bowel, and colon. This powerful tool allows physicians to precisely diagnose and treat many facets of gastroenterology, including peptic ulcer disease, acid reflux disease, colon polyps and colon cancer, GI bleeding disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and infectious disorders of the colon and small bowel. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from The University of Chicago, completed my residency in Internal Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine, and finished a gastrointestinal fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, affiliated with the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. I find that the best clinical outcomes occur when I involve patients in decision-making regarding their specific treatment plans. My fields of expertise in GI medicine include acid reflux disease (GERD), dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastric motility disorders, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth syndrome (SIBO), IBS, capsule endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease (mostly Crohn's disease), colon cancer screening, chronic idiopathic constipation, chronic diarrhea, abnormal weight loss, weight loss medicine and counseling, fatty liver disease, chronic hepatitis B, and chronic hepatitis C. Outside of GI, my interests include Western art music (especially Bach), meditation, mental health in the workforce, traveling, and my Wheaten terrier GoGo, who is six years old now. I am fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and proficient in Mandarin Chinese. Thank you for visiting my bio page, and I look forward to taking care of your GI health and needs.

Excellent doctor. Will listen to your questions and concerns.
Consultation appointment with Dr. Lee made for 9:45am. I arrived 9:35am and stood at the reception desk until 9:49am without being acknowledged. Dr. Lee and receptionist each passed by twice without making eye contact. At 9:49am the receptionist told me I could have a seat. At 10am the receptionist said thank you for waiting and asked me to sign paperwork, provide my drivers license and payment for the consultation. I asked if it is typical to keep their patients waiting to which the receptionist replied it was not and she is the only one there today. I told the receptionist I will find another doctor and told her she wasted my time and walked out. I can not review Dr. Lee as a doctor. This review simply speaks to the office’s lack of respect for their patient’s time. Yes, the receptionist did thank me for waiting however never apologized for the wait. The difference is subtle but there is absolutely is one. If you value your time, find a doctor that does as well.
