About Dr. Jonathan Guterman
Dr. Jonathan Glenn Guterman is a Vascular Neurologist and Stroke specialist. His clinical interests include stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, concussion, and other neurologic conditions.
Prior to joining Complete Neurological Care, Dr. Guterman worked extensively in the neurology field in a number of area medical centers, including Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Jamaica, N.Y., Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Flushing, N.Y., and at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.
Dr. Guterman earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the College of Staten Island in Staten Island, N.Y., and his graduate degree in Physiological and Biological Sciences from the Touro College School of Health Sciences in Bay Shore, N.Y.
After earning his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, he completed his neurology residency at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, and a Vascular Neurology (Stroke) fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine, The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

I called ahead and was told they treat concussions. The doctor did not have expertise in concussions and instead referred me to a concussion clinic. He wanted to do an MRI, but concussions cannot be diagnosed with an MRI. He also told me to go to a cardiologist, ear doctor, and psychiatrist. He also refused to write a doctor’s letter for testing accommodations and said he wouldn’t help people with police work, worker’s comp, or USCIS immigration, which I wasn’t sure how that was related to my case. Overall, I did not feel that he listened to my symptoms or trusted me as a patient. I got my co-pay refunded and sought treatment elsewhere. Disappointing experience.

This doctor was not listening to me and what I was trying to tell him. He was talking over me and had me outta his office in about 5 minutes….. he gave me referrals for an mri and a head/brain scan and something else and told me to come back in a month. I needed someone to check me out right then not in a month. Im in pain now….he didn’t even recommend anything or offer anything to help with the pain.

I have seen 24 years of Doctors & Specialists, honestly he is the VERY FIRST DOCTOR TO ACTUALLY LOOK AT MY ENTIRE MEDICAL HISTORY AND MAKE SUGGESTIONS BASED ON WHAT IM EXPERIENCING NOW COUPLED WITH WHAT IVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THROUGH THE YEARS AND PRESENT A COMPREHENSIVE CARE PLAN MOVING FORWARD. I am so incredibly happy to have found a doctor who cares about me as a person, not just as a patient- I'm so grateful and hopeful and optimistic... Finally...

Seems knowledgeable enough but seemed like he was in a rush for no apparent reason. Just talking so fast and haphazardly without like looking me in the eye and treating me like a human.

Didn’t feel like he was listening to me and wasn’t thinking in my best interest. Decided to not treat my symptoms and send me away via ems which I have come to learn from other neurologists and psychiatrists was the worst possible solution.

Walked into his office after waiting a long time only for him to patronizingly tell me to take off my sunglasses in order "to be professional" even though he knew I was there to see him for brain trauma and was experiencing extreme sensitivity to light in his office.
Doctor was a terrible listener - checked boxes of symptoms but did not pay attention to their trends or give me time to speak, and then ordered me tons of in house tests without even telling me he was going to. Does not describe the priority of tests and assumes you can and want to do all of them. He also spoke over me if I took a second before answering a symptom question (again suffering from brain trauma). The receptionist tried to explain them to me afterwards but unfortunately he's not a doctor. His staff was nice, the doctor himself rushed me with little to no conversation. I called him to clarify the tests before scheduling - he never called back. Had to seek attention elsewhere.
