I had a scheduled appointment at 10:45 AM for my child. The initial check-in and waiting room process moved quickly, but after being placed in an exam room, we waited over an hour without any communication from staff or the doctor. No one came in to say hello, provide an update (e.g., “The doctor is running behind and will be with you shortly”), or acknowledge our presence.
During the wait, a medical assistant explained that examining a rash on my child would count as a separate visit with an additional copay. When I asked the cost, she said she didn’t know and would need to check. I replied that since we didn’t have that information, we would handle the rash at a future appointment. She then brought in another staff member who repeated the exact same information in a dismissive and rude manner. We again stated we would address it another time due to the unknown copay.
After more than 45 additional minutes of waiting—during which my child was upset, crying, and sitting undressed on the exam table—we decided to leave. As we were exiting, the same staff member commented that “it usually takes this long” and made other excuses. While that may be typical for this office, I have never experienced such extreme delays at any other medical appointment for myself or my daughter.
The entire visit felt highly unprofessional. The doctor never appeared, never introduced themselves, and never provided any care. We received zero medical attention despite waiting well over an hour in the exam room.
I respectfully request that no charge be submitted to my insurance for this appointment, as no physician evaluation or treatment occurred. This was a complete waste of our time and caused unnecessary distress to my young child.
