“I was very disappointed that you didn’t get to see the Doctor in person. He seemed very nice but, I think it is very difficult to talk about my situation over a phone conversation because I am not used to it. I have always had in person meetings with my Psychiatrist and I feel like that is what I need. I was not prepared to talk about myself or my feelings when the call came . I still feel very anxious and desperate. I am so sorry that I can’t feel better about myself. I want to get back to my normal self. I am 74 years old and I am not ready to seek treatment on a cell phone! Sorry I have different expectations.????”

Dr. Stansberry holds the position of staff psychiatrist at Talkiatry. He is board certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Stansberry’s practice focuses on medication management and also incorporates supportive therapy techniques, typically in 30-minute follow-up visits. In some cases, Dr. Stansberry may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team.
Dr. Stansberry received his medical degree from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He completed his residency training through the Louisiana State University/Ochsner Health Foundation Psychiatry Residency program. He has experience working in inpatient, emergency, and consult-liaison psychiatry but particularly enjoys the opportunity to work longitudinally with patients in the outpatient setting.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

Communication was unclear. All my information was uploaded, verified my email 4x, and my appointment was canceled. I would understand for a GP but this seems to be common practice even for mental health practitioners.

Dr. Stansberry was very thorough and took a holistic approach when diagnosing my situation. He asked a lot of questions and listened attentively. I've seen two (terrible) psychiatrists before, and they just asked me a list of yes/no questions then diagnosed me without understanding me at all. Dr. Stansberry is not like that. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Stansberry was a great listener. Every other psychiatrist I’ve seen in the past didn’t even want to talk to me. They usually read therapy notes and just hand out meds without asking for input from the patient. Dr. Stansberry was the opposite of that. He was thorough in asking questions in order to verify the diagnosis and treat it correctly. It was refreshing to see a psychiatrist who wasn’t trying to just push pills on me without checking against my current medications. I look forward to seeing him again.
