What should a new client know about working with you?

Relatable Health is a psychotherapy practice that treats adults with anxiety and mood disorders, teaches mindfulness, and provides support for those who live with emotional disorders.  Individual psychotherapy starts with a free 15-minute video consultation with Dr. Maggie Perry. Be ready to share why you are seeking psychotherapy, what you’ve tried so far, what you’re looking for in psychotherapy, and your questions about psychotherapy. If we both decide that we are a good fit, the next step is a comprehensive intake with either Dr. Perry or one of the Relatable Health associates. During the 55-minute intake consultation, we’ll create a dynamic treatment plan based on cognitive behavioral principles. We specialize in treating those with anxiety disorders, OCD, and mood disorders using cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectal behavioral therapy (DBT). We’ll explain the theory upon which your treatment is based, recommend reading, and give you homework that fits your presenting problem. Your treatment plan might be a referral to another mental health provider, including a psychiatrist or a different psychologist. We don’t treat active substance abuse disorders, active eating disorders that are medically unstable, active psychosis, or those in need of treatment for legal reasons. We are able and willing to provide treatment to you if you are seeking treatment to manage self-harm behaviors and suicidal thoughts if you are currently in treatment with a psychiatrist with whom we can consult.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Individual Psychotherapy Once we decide that we are beginning treatment together, we will decide on our therapeutic frame, including our appointment time and frequency. Individual psychotherapy cadence with us ranges from twice per week to once per month, depending on the severity of your symptoms and your goals. We are happy to discuss how treatment is going at any point in our process and can make referrals to other providers during or at the end of our work together, as needed. Psychotherapy appointments last 55-minutes and cost $300 per session with Dr. Maggie Perry and $200 per session with Relatable Health associates. We take FSA, HRA, and HSA. We also work with a company called Reimbursify that helps you get reimbursed for the appointments using your out-of-network benefits. Mindfulness Class The Mindfulness Class is a free weekly meeting for Relatable Health clients that includes teaching about the science of mindfulness as well as an experiential exercise. During the Mindfulness Class, you’ll introduce yourself by describing in what way you are working on your mental health and your experience with mindfulness. The teaching focuses on the neuroscience of mindfulness as well as simple mindfulness instruction that can help you overcome challenges to implementing a regular practice. At the end of the Mindfulness Class, you’ll make a commitment to a personal mindfulness habit that fits your lifestyle and describe what helps you maintain motivation and hope.  Group Support Community Time is a free weekly meeting for Relatable Health clients. During Community Time, you’ll introduce yourself by describing in what way you are working on your mental health and what you’ve done recently to relate to your mental health well. The weekly topic is based on the weekly newsletter and includes both teaching and the chance to discuss how the concept applies to your life.
