“The doctor I originally booked was not available so the office notified me the day before the appointment of the change in Doctors. The Doctor that I did see was Melanie Choi, who was excellent! She had a great bedside manner, made me feel very comfortable, explained every part of the examination and explained what she found during the exam. She provided extra time for any questions and overall made this office visit very pleasant. I was brought into the exam room by a very professional young woman where I was setup in a very clean room, provided a clean mat to stand on while changing after this pre visit interview which was also completed in a very comfortable atmosphere. Prior to my arrival I received a text with a link to fill out all the paperwork needed prior to my visit which was helpful and made the check in so much easier, I was seen on time with extremely minimal wait time. Overall I would highly recommended this office, the staff, and especially this doctor.

About Dr. Margot Chima
Dr. Margot Chima is a cosmetic and medical dermatologist in New York City.
After graduating from the University of Michigan with honors, Dr. Chima received a scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center for medical school, where she also graduated with honors. She completed her dermatology residency training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where she was selected by her faculty and peers as chief resident. She has published dozens of articles, book chapters, and abstracts; she has been the study doctor on more than 35 clinical trials for conditions like acne, wrinkles, eczema, psoriasis, alopecia areata, and vitiligo.
Dr. Chima is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, serving on the Practice Operations Committee. She also serves the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, where she was selected as a member of their Future Leaders Network.
When not caring for patients at The Dermatology Specialists, she is a Clinical Instructor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where she loves teaching the dermatology residents.

- received 8 callbacks about insurance and prescriptions after visiting without being able to reach the actual office
- still can’t get verification if new insurance is on file
- prescriptions still haven’t been sent days after appointment
- dr. chima hardly even listened or talked about treatment options
overall, a bureaucratic and bad experience all around - never going back, i hope

Hate to leave a negative review for an overall nice doctor, I just felt very dismissed. The doctor didn’t ask me my current routine, what I’ve tried in the past, or what kind of lifestyle I lead to try to rule out treatments. I unfortunately didn’t feel like she was listening nor gave me the time to ask the many questions I had. Instead they just jumped to prescribing a bunch of topicals that I unfortunately cannot afford. Thankfully her NP was kind enough to answer my questions but to be honest, I’m paying for the doctor’s knowledge.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed by this visit and won’t be returning. While Dr. Chima is a good listener, I felt very rushed and felt like I was holding her up with my questions even though I was one of the only patients there. There wasn’t a clear diagnosis and nothing more explained other than use this ointment. It was a waste of an expensive specialist copay and I am still in discomfort.
The office is an absolute disaster- this company has many offices and I had to call four separate times to resolve something very simple. The assistant was also moving through her initial questions AND her follow up extremely fast.

A bit strange.. pawned me off on another doctor in a different borough despite the office offering a variety of procedures that could have worked with what I came in for…. Guess my business wasn’t wanted? Or the advertised procedures weren’t really offered?
