Maria Borodatcheva, M.D., is a board-certified internal medicine physician with over 15 years of experience in primary care. She earned her medical degree from Russian Peoples Friendship University, graduating in 1999 with summa cum laude honors. After moving to the United States and starting her family, she completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland in 2007.
Primary care has been her passion since completing her residency. She believes the doctor-patient relationship should be based on trust and partnership to achieve the best possible outcomes. Dr. Borodatcheva provides her patients with accurate information about their health conditions or diagnoses, discusses possible treatment options, explains the risks and benefits of each, and empowers her patients to decide which treatment option is best for them.
Her main interests include hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypothyroidism, and gastrointestinal tract disorders. She strongly believes in preventive medicine and encourages a healthy lifestyle, setting a good example by maintaining a healthy diet and an active lifestyle.

I’ve only had an initial office visit with Dr. Borodatcheva, but my impression is that she has a warm bedside manner. She is easy to talk to and is an especially good listener, I will learn more about her being a good diagnostician as time goes by. I would certainly go back to find out!

Patients have to move a lot for appointments. I arrived early for my appt, prefilled the forms and before I could get my name out the front desk rep was trying to reschedule my appt to another day due to their own shortcomings. Lack of respect for patients time is very inconsiderate and I won’t be recommending anyone to the First Medical Associates facilities based on my poor experience.

Front desk staff was very friendly and the office was nice and clean. The doctor wasn't very Friendly. I had to bring my kids unfortunately. She didn't greet them at all upon arrival. And the visit felt rushed for a first visit.

I arrived early for my appointment, having completed all my paperwork ahead of time as requested. After waiting for 30 minutes, I approached the receptionist to ask how far behind the doctor was. She said she would check but then returned to ask who I had checked in with. I reminded her that I had checked in with her and even showed my receipt with the timestamp to confirm it. She then mentioned there must have been a computer error, though it felt more like a human oversight—she likely forgot to notify the staff of my arrival. By this point, it had been 45 minutes past my scheduled time, and I was understandably frustrated. While they did apologize, it initially seemed like the blame might fall on me until I provided proof of my check-in. The whole experience left a bad impression; it’s not the way to build trust with patients. The doctor would have had to exceed expectations to make up for this, but unfortunately, the visit was just average. I won’t be returning.

On Wed. 12/11/2024 @ 2:00pm was my second time having Ms. Maria Borodatcheva as, who I consider, my primary doctor. I don't know if she remembers me or not from my previous visit/appointment, but more importantly she listened carefully about my utmost concern of my physical health. She broke it down to what happen to me from when I got sick, to when it died down to when and why it came back. After some rapid tests, I got some answers and not only did she prescribed me meds, but told me the side effects of them. It's a relief to be a returning patient. I already scheduled my follow up.

Dr Maria is very nice and friendly, she listens to me very carefully and treats me with the right labs and even refer me to see a specialist. The clinic is very nice and convenient, labs can be done inside the clinic. One little thing that I would say is the receptionists there aren’t very friendly. Other staffs like the nurse, physicians, and lab assistants are all really nice and friendly. Overall very good experience for me.
