About Marla Smith
Marla was born and raised in Southern Illinois and has been practicing as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner since 2007. She earned her Master's in Women's Health Nursing from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Additionally, Marla holds a Bachelor's degree from Barnes-Jewish College and an Associate's degree from Missouri Baptist University. Her background also includes over 21 years of labor and delivery nursing. Marla enjoys helping women in all stages of their life through preventative health care.
She lives in Waterloo with her two daughters. In her free time, she loves to travel with her friends and family. If she could eat one food for the rest of her life, it would be chicken wings!

She laughed in my face, more than once. I told her I was not comfortable getting my IUD removed during the appointment and she continually pushed for me to have it removed, even bringing in the tools during my pap. I had to tell her NO at least 4 times. I left feeling small, vulnerable, and that I had less choice over my body & my life than before the appointment.

Marla was absolutely amazing! I have never felt at ease at any gynecologist but she was able to make me comfortable and it was over before I knew it. She also told me about hereditary cancer testing, which has never been offered to me before even though my other doctors know how prevalent it is on both sides of my family. She truly cares and I would and will recommend her to any female who’s apprehensive about going.
