About Dr. Matthew Ng
Matthew Ng, MD is board certified in General Surgery and board eligible for Colon and Rectal Surgery. He specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques along with robotic surgery for malignant and benign diseases including inflammatory bowel disease. He also practices transanal minimally invasive surgery for rectal pathologies. Dr. Ng has a deep interest for anal disorders as well, including anal dysplasia, hemorrhoids, fistula and fissure.
Dr. Ng has written articles on a variety of topics including trauma, quality improvement and cardiac arrest. He has presented at the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) national conference, Southeastern Surgical Conference (SESC) and the Chicago Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Dr. Ng earned his medical degree at Chicago Medical School and completed general surgery residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He then completed subspeciality fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago.
Dr. Ng is a member of the American College of Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and American Medical Association. He is licensed in DC and MD.

Dr. Ng was helpful and discussed all my options from treatment to surgery. He has a great bed side manner, tries to explain what is happening and is sensitive given the area of his specialty. So far I am pleased with my surgical results and would return if I had issues in the future.

Very helpful doctor and provided a lot of relevant information that made it helpful to better understand my problem.
One issue I had was they sent an incomplete prescription over to the pharmacy, so the pharmacy couldn’t prepare it. When I tried to follow up with the office I never heard back.

Good thoughtful doctor but his office cancelled my follow up appointment and did not inform me so I showed up for no reason. When I called to ask they said the visit was “bumped” and they did not even apologise for having failed to tell me about the cancellation.

The staff that worked in the office were highly attentive and very nice. Dr. Ng was very knowledgeable of what I was coming in for and took the time to make sure that I was understanding the issues at hand and explained how I could improve long-term. I have had trouble finding Doctor's since moving from Virginia and he was one of the best I have experienced here in the District.
