About Dr. Michael Schifano
Dr. Schifano has over 25 years of experience and is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He was born and raised in Chicago and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He completed a Master's in Biology at Roosevelt University, Chicago, and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University. Following medical school, he completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso. Afterward, he became a commissioned officer in the United States Army.
He served as Chief of Obstetrics at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, where he was also a Clinical Instructor at the Medical College of Georgia. Major Schifano left the Army in July 2001 to start Heartland Women's Healthcare in Marion, IL.
Dr. Schifano's interests include business development and entrepreneurship. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

I was waiting for over an hour when I was brought back. The nurse was kind, and I told her all my concerns. When the doctor came in from my pap smear I felt very rushed, and not listened to. I reiterated the health concerns I told the nurse and he flat out did not address them.
He was in and out within 10 minutes after I waited for an hour and I did not feel as if i had the time to talk about my health, body, or concerns. I didn’t feel cared for.
Really disappointing experience, especially for someone who is already hesistant to go to doctors because of this type of treatment. People take the time out of their day, and pay to make these appointments. The least you can do as a provider is listen to your patient.

I was very nervous about having a male OB-GYN, but Dr. Schifano made the process quick and easy. He was kind, professional, reassuring, a great listener, and he made my problems, questions, and concerns all feel validated. I would definitely recommend him and be using him going forward.

Fast and friendly staff. Didn’t even feel the speculum Dr. was so quick and gentle that getting a Pap smear did not hurt like it usually does. Yes, I would recommend others to see this doctor.
