Dr. Mikhail Kogan is an Interventional Pain Management Specialist with extended expertise in treating back pain and cancer pain. He currently is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Elmhurst Hospital Center. Dr. Kogan is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management. After completing his anesthesiology residency at St. Vincent's Medical Center in NYC, Dr. Kogan was fortunate to attend a pain management fellowship at the State University of New York in Buffalo, where he trained under two of the world’s most prominent specialists in pain management, Dr. Mark Lema and Dr. Oscar DeLeon.
A significant part of his training was conducted at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. In 2000, Dr. Kogan was promoted to Director of Pain Management Service at Elmhurst Hospital. During the past six years, Dr. Kogan has developed pain management service into a premiere minimally invasive pain management practice with an emphasis on minimally invasive spinal techniques. Dr. Kogan continues to utilize the latest, most cutting edge spinal interventions including percutaneous disc decompressor, radio frequency neurolysis and spinal implantable devices. While Dr. Kogan's education and certifications attest to his knowledge, it is his patients’ satisfaction that justify his recognition in this area. Dr. Kogan is known for achieving dramatic improvement in pain without major surgery.
Dr. Kogan prides himself on being a compassionate, caring physician with an excellent bedside manner. Dr. Kogan is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.

Dr. Mikhail Kogen was so professional and took his time to explain what was going on with my spine condition.
He provided me with options and I was not ruched out of his office, instead he went over my exrays and actually showed me a diagram of my spine and disks and was very professional in explaining next steps!

I find Dr. Mikhail Kogan to be a very excellent and professional doctor I find him to be very compassionate and he takes the time to explain exactly the procedure if you have any question he will take a moment and explain to you until you understand exactly what's going on he also goes the extra by checking on you even when he's on vacation or he's away I recommend him I find him to be an excellent doctor who's very warm compassionate and he believes in his patience he believed in making sure they're taking care properly and everything was running smooth with his patience once again I find them to be an exceptional doctor..

This doctor was so rude and unprofessional each time I had appointments with him. He diminished the level of pain I was reporting to him despite the fact that I had a fracture between L3 and L4, herniated discs, spinal stenosis and bone spurs. He had access to xrays, MRI and cat scan. However he had the gall to say right to my face “you shouldn’t be in pain and don’t need surgery” inferring I was med seeking - which I found to be highly offensive.
I had several injections done along with a nerve block. They did not last for long (but that isn’t necessarily his fault, the injections just don’t always work for everyone).
Office staff was inexperienced, I had constant problems with them being able to confirm insurance information and each visit I spent between 1 and 4 hours past my appt time while they attempted to figure it out.
I could not recommend this doctor less. The ONLY reason I had treatment through him more than once is because of the way my insurance was set up at the time. I have since gotten new insurance and have been able to go to some outstanding doctors for injections and eventually surgery which has been a life changer for me.

For a patient in severe pain he did not act like a doctor should. He was rude, did not listen, yelled, not sympathetic, not empathetic. For the first visit he acts normal, not afterward.

I have to say Dr. Kogan is one of the best Dr's I have seen. Always patient and makes time to explain any questions. I have referred him to others and will continue to do so. His knowledge is unbelievable in his profession!
