About Dr. Mitchell Cohn
Mitchell Cohn, MD has expertise in general internal medicine and bariatrics (weight loss). He is a board-certified internist that has worked in primary care, bariatric and non-narcotic pain management medicine, treating patients with a wide range of conditions.
His philosophy with patients is to have an excellent bedside manner, be very thorough and not overprescribe medicine. “It’s most important to establish a good rapport with patients and instill confidence," he says. As a past clinical instructor at City University New York Medical School and at New York Flushing Medical Center, he has always emphasized to his students the importance of conveying concern and interest in a patient’s wellbeing.
Dr. Cohn has a medical degree from Far Eastern University in the Philippines and finished his internship at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn. He then completed his residency at New York Flushing Medical Center, where he was chief resident in his final year.
Dr. Cohn most enjoys spending time with patients and listening to them, being thorough throughout the doctor-patient relationship.
When not practicing medicine, he enjoys traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family and dogs.

My appt was scheduled for 1.00 pm. I was taken into a room at 1.30 pm and left there until 2.50 pm. No one came to say anything to me. I'm very disappointed with this wait time!

Dr. Cohn was really awesome. Although this is an urgent care center I am considering making him my primary care physician because of how much he treated me like a PERSON first and still provided necessary information and assessment as a patient. The wait time is a little too long for my liking but once he came in the room his mannerism and character made me forget I was even waiting that long. I would recommend now and hopefully again after more visits.

The doctor was making a lot of weird and strange comments. Asking me not about my personal life rather than why I went into the office. Making really bad jokes about my weight and physically appearance. Will not return ever again.

Hands down the best doctor I’ve ever encountered in my life. He went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and safe. He made me feel welcome and out my mind at ease and just kept talking to me about things I have so many questions to. The world needs more doctors like this. Upon arrival, was not greeted immediately, the woman who did check me in was not friendly. Doctor was personal able but took forever to complete visit. Doctor told me he would return back with test results never did I was left in the exam for an hour. Without being acknowledged.

You should not CLOSE the WHITESTONE OFFICE!!! Putting your financial numbers before patients needs and taking away a convenient office from a community is disrespectful. Add another doctor to the office, NOT close it because there is just one doctor. The doctor is good, the office is convenient and the community needs it. Stop thinking about the bottom line ($) and think about patients needs and wants.

completely different attitude the second visit and said I was a burden to him for a sch 4 prescription that I've been on for 20 years. what kind of doctors are out there that are scared to prescribe this.

Most horrifying experience I've had with a doctor. It was my first visit to him and he lectured me on medicine that I've been taking my whole life trying to convince me to not continue. I had to sit there quietly and feel horribly uncomfortable the whole time because I was afraid he wouldn't fill it for me if I rebutted his points. He ended up filling it and when my pharmacy was out of stock, he refused to send an alternative saying he didn't feel comfortable doing so. Truly a waste of time.

Dr. Cohn has got to be the best doctor I've ever come across. Absolutely great and wise man with the best bedside manner you'll ever find. This was the first time I actually was heard out. I had a problem with medication as I moved from another state. He welcomed me, listened with 0 judgment, gave a great plan of action, and he helped the entire process. He even called to make sure everything was OK. Didn't hesitate to give 5+ rating. We need more doctors like this.

I felt the doctor was not completely focused on my condition and joked a lot while I suffered in a lot of pain. I have an infection in my right eye with pus on the bottom of my right eye. The doc refused to look at my eyes. He stated that he “ doesn’t do eyes. A very weird visit.
