About Dr. Nicholas Nissirios
Dr. Nicholas Nissirios is the creator and director of MetroEyeMD. Dr. Nissirios is a board certified Ophthalmologist specializing in Cataract, Cornea Transplantation and Refractive Surgery. He completed his medical school training at the University of Athens Medical School in Greece, followed by a 2-year post-doctoral research fellowship in Glaucoma at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NY and an Internal Medicine internship at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. He then completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center/State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook, NY, where he served as chief resident in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Nissirios has sub-specialized with Fellowship training in Cornea and External Eye Diseases, Premium Cataract Surgery and LASIK/Refractive surgery in New York with two of the top US ophthalmologist in the field. During his fellowship, Dr. Nissirios specialized in cataract surgery with implantation of multi-focal, accommodating and astigmatism correcting intraocular lenses, including the most modern Laser Cataract Surgery, being one of the first in New York and one of the few ophthalmologists in the country being certified to operate this latest technology. He was also trained and is fully certified in the latest techniques in custom bladeless laser refractive surgery and corneal transplantation.
