Dr. R. David Bauer is a Board Certified Orthopedist specializing in Spinal Disease and founder of the The Spine Center. He is nationally recognized as both a physician and teacher with more than 25 years of clinical experience in treating spine disorders and injuries. He oversees all treatment at the Center.
Dr. Bauer received his MD Degree in 1983 from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his Orthopedic Residency at New York University in 1988 before serving as a Medical Officer in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Bauer then completed specialty training in Spinal Care with the Departments of Orthopedics and Neurosurgery at the University of California San Diego in 1992. He went on to become Chief of the Orthopedic Spine Service at West Virginia University Medical Center and an Assistant Professor there.
Dr. Bauer is Co-Author of the textbook, Spine Trauma: A Comprehensive Text and serves on the Editorial Board of SpineLine, a publication of the North American Spine Society. He has authored numerous textbook chapters, presented before national and international orthopedic and spine societies. He is a Consultant to several biomedical technology companies where he advises on the design and use of these devices as well as trains other surgeons in their use.
Dr. Bauer is a member of the North American Spine Society, Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopedic Association and Dallas County Medical Society. He also serves as a Designated Doctor for the Texas Worker’s Compensation Commission.
