More about Dr. Robert Martin, MD

*Dr. Martin does not accept any insurances, only takes direct payment by cash or check.* Though I am not on any insurance plans, I provide very personal service and am always available to my patients. After the first visit, costs are adjusted as required. Filling out insurance forms for reimbursement is not a problem. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Oglethorpe University and my Doctor of Medicine from Augusta University. I completed both my internship and residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Having worked as an associate clinical professor of psychiatry in academia and in mental hospitals, my skills cover a wide range, especially including psychotherapy and medication management, but also unusual neurological conditions and brain injury. Both psychotherapy and medication management occur simultaneously, according to the needs of the patient. I've also had extensive experience in pain management, sleep disorders, psychosomatic disorders, psychological consequences of brain injuries, and consultations for mental changes in the aged. I am very comfortable with artistic concerns, especially problems with performance in music, drama, and dance. Family and couples therapy are available. Complex neurological and psychological relationships can be evaluated. I am willing and comfortable contacting all specialists regarding diagnostic and treatment issues. I am certified to give Buprenorphine for addiction management with opioids, and therapy for addictions is available. My practice is solo and completely private. I am board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and by the Board of Psychosomatic Medicine.

Dr. Martin was absolutely wonderful to work with . . . having to see any doctor is often a harrowing experience, but Dr. Martin was warm, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable about his field. His comments were insightful, and I would definitely see him again and recommend him to others.

Dr Martin is a wonderful doctor. He helps my 16 year old with her clinical depression. Very supportive and understanding. He is also very easy to talk to. My daughter never feels like she is being judged in a negative way. She is on Lexapro and it's helped her so much. We highly recommend him!
Dr. Martin is a terrific psychiatrist. His knowledge and insight are parallel to no physician I have seen before. He is probably the most intelligent man I have ever met.
Dr. Martin is a understanding and compassionate man. You feel very comfortable as soon as you meet him. He treated my teenage daughter for depression and she's doing so much better now. He helps you make the right choices regarding antidepressants with insightful guidance. I highly recommend this wonderful doctor if you or a loved one is dealing with depression/anxiety.
Very attentive and helpful
Warm, understanding, perceptive
I personally got a great vibe. A very distinctive vibe. I could tell that he really indeed cares for his patients. His personality is awesome, and his knowledge and feedback is beyond your average professional. He took his time and did not for a second rush the session. Great sense of humor, but serious approach at the same time, which I like. I definitely will continue my treatment with Dr. Martin, as my initial instincts tell me he's the right therapist for me. i dont judge people ever..but when my life is in somebody elses hands, you better believe im taking mental notes. What i really liked was the fact that he gave me a warm and rather unique vibe In regards to trusting him. He was very open to suggestions which is a huge +. Not once did he insist on anything or pressure me. I much enjoyed our sessions.. finally after hours, days and weeks of research attempting to find a new therapist, the unique qualities and knowledge Dr. Martin acquires is what I have been searching for. 10 STARS.
