However, I wasn't seen by her until nearly two hours after my appointment time, and the office seems to be functioning very inefficiently (extremely long wait for X-rays, unclear/ad hoc system of handing off patients from X-rays to the consultation area). Disappointing to have wasted so much of my afternoon waiting for what was eventually a relatively short, to-the-point conversation with Dr. Doerre.”

“ Dr Doerr and her team were great - pleasant, efficient, and relatively fast given everything that needed to be done (they did the x-rays, etc in the office right away). I've seen a number of orthopedists over the years and had delayed going because my past experiences weren't great. I'd happily return to Dr Doerr's office again...though hopefully I won't need to anytime soon :).”

About Dr. Teresa Doerre
Dr. Teresa Doerre is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. She is an Assistant Professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and is involved with teaching residents and medical students at GWU.
Dr. Doerre earned her undergraduate degree in Biology with a Secondary Field in Health Policy from Harvard University. She attended medical school at New York Medical College, and completed her residency training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. She then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Texas Houston, where she had hands-on experience serving as an assistant team physician for the Houston Texans, Rockets, Astros, Dynamo, University of Houston, and St. Thomas High School.
Dr. Doerre treats patients for injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. She believes in an evidence-based approach, but works with patients to develop the optimal treatment plan based on their needs, activity level, and expectations
Dr. Doerre has done basic science research to study biologic interventions to improve meniscus and rotator cuff healing. Her research has been presented at national meetings including the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS). She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM)

Dr. Doerre and the staff of the orthopedic surgery department of GW Medical Faculty Associates were efficient, competent, professional, and effective. I was seem immediately, x-rays were taken, the PA examined me, and then Dr. Doerre came in fully informed, and conducted her own examination. She showed me the x-rays and explained my condition. She was conservative in her recommends, which made sense to me . I left feeling reassured that I had selected the right practice.

I had my right knee injected on 7/29 and could have gotten both done at the same time. I’m skittish so I decided to wait. I came back on August 17 to take care of my left knee. All is well! I suffered needlessly for 12 years. I immediately retired my walking cane.

I've seen Dr. Doerre four times now in the last few months for a persistent shoulder issue and I'd highly recommend her. She's given me wise, expert medical advice but also listened carefully and looked for the best path that makes the most sense for me. She wasn't eager to recommend surgery (nor was I) and she put me on a course of PT before and after an MRI before eventually deciding on surgery. She's no-nonsense and direct, but communicates clearly, listens, and has a great bedside manner as we talk. She's been a huge improvement on the last GW orthopedist I had for hand surgery a decade ago who was a good surgeon but terrible at every other part of the job.
