Dr. Valerie Modirpour, PhD

Psychologist
OH
I am a licensed psychologist in the State of Nevada, with 10 years experience working with a variety of mental health symptoms and conditions. Throughout my career, I have worked with a broad range of clients, including adolescents and early/middle/late adulthood. In my sessions, I focus on using evidence-based techniques including (but not limited to) psychodynamic, person-centered therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy in order to help clients learn how to better cope with their emotions and any distress. I often work with client to address life changes and transitions and interpersonal difficulties in addition to addressing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma. My counseling style is collaborative and client-centered. Many of my clients have said I am easy to talk to, providing patience and empathy while assisting in teaching skills. For me, it is a pleasure to provide therapy services to those in my community. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Baylor University in Texas in 2008. I then took three years off of school to begin to build my skill set as a mental health case worker. While serving as a program director at my local menta health authority, I also pursued and completed a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2015. I also completed a master’s level internship in forensic psychology. Shortly thereafter, I began my doctorate level education in California and received training in a variety of settings and modalities. I trained at the Gronowski Center in Palo Alto, at the Bay Area Addiction Research and Treatment Center in Oakland, and at the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center. While pursuing my doctorate education, I also worked at John Muir Behavioral Health Center as a mental health counselor.
