“I saw Yohana Shum PA-C at my most recent visit. Yohana was personable, seemed to understand my problem right away, and made some good suggestions. I can't comment completely on how well this all works until I try the new prescriptions and suggestions. Of note, there was an error with a medical allergy but she caught that and changed prescriptions for me. My actual visit with her was *very* quick. For perspective, in total, she spent about 7 minutes with me in the exam room, maximum. I think, in general, The Dermatology Specialists, have very fast appointments and typically don't spend a lot of time with you. I booked with her as none of the prior providers I'd seen at the Rego Park location were still there -- I mention that because I think there's very high turnover in staff. If you want to build a relationship with a provider over time, this may not be the practice for you.”

I we t in to be examined for my shingles condition that I have been struggling with for 5 weeks. The PA never touched me, didn't examine the shingles or keyloid condition. She never touched me. How can you critique something you you didn't observe.

Her bedside manner was terrible. Although there was no one in the waiting area, she rushed me out. When I tried to show her my issue by lifting my shirt, she interrupted me mid way off, saying it was an airborne virus while standing at a distance. I still insisted and lifted my shirt on the right side to ask if it was the same issue there, and she confirmed. However, she did not conduct a proper examination.
I also inquired about my previous bloodwork, and she mentioned a few acronyms that I couldn't remember, advising me to follow up with my primary care doctor. She instructed her assistant to print out the bloodwork without highlighting anything she thought was concerning. When I mentioned that I was on medication, she shrugged it off and repeated to follow up with my primary care. If you want a PA who makes you uncomfortable, and not cared for then she's the one to see.

Pro: The practice was very nice. We booked on zocdoc, registered and were seen promptly. The provider as knowledgeable and nice staff.
Con: I understand not all practices have a uniform in place. But one of the guys at the reception who helped me was wearing a Playboy shirt. That to me is just unprofessional and not the kind of environment for it. Especially when you are working the front desk and are the face of the practice.

The office was very nice and offered complimentary water and seltzer which was great on a warm summer day. I was slightly late for my appointment so they were able to take me right after i filled out the standard intake/new patient forms. The provider did a great job, and I will return to this practice in the future.

I visited this office twice. The appointments were three weeks apart. During my second appointment, I was told to “discontinue the over the counter medicine one week before the next appointment because she couldn’t see the progress on my condition. “ This information was not told to me previously, so as a result, the visit was not as productive at all. She was not able to give me any updated information. In other words, I waited three weeks for absolutely nothing. She showed no empathy (I have been dealing with this problem for months) and the appointment felt rushed. No additional information or tips were given to remedy my situation at home. I will not be returning.

The provider and assistant were great. My only issue was the waiting room where another patient had no mask on so I had to wait outside. Receptionist was communicating with said patient too. Seems obvious to require patients waiting in a small waiting room to wear a mask.
