“Dr. Yolanda Young is the psychiatrist for my son and she has been instrumental in his ability to cope and manage his mental health. She is not just super professional and diligent when it comes to monitoring and adjusting his medications. She has become a friend and counselor to my son, and helps him through his many challenges. I cannot recommend Dr. Young enough - he has had other psychiatrists in the past, but she is by far the best. ”

?I tremendously enjoy the field of Behavioral Health and working with different practitioners and medical specialties. I am a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist. I trained in the Queens/Long Island areas of New York and relocated to Maryland about two years ago.
I evaluate and treat adults for symptoms of Psychotic Disorders, Mood and Anxiety Disorders. I also have experience and training in Geriatric Psychiatry.
I hope that I can help you progress to your optimal self. Based on your needs, we will determine if you will benefit from therapy and/or medications. Depending on the individual, this may happen quickly or may require time and patience. Additionally, I try to stay current with the field's recommendations for ideal care and treatment.
I am personable, patient, empathetic, forthright and have the utmost respect for patient confidentiality. I have almost 11 years of experience and have treated individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. I have worked in outpatient clinics, university settings, Psychiatric Emergency Rooms and correctional facilities.

Maybe we weren’t the right fit. I just felt like there was more of a focus on pushing medication on me to solve my clinical depression as opposed to providing alternative forms of therapy to assist me with regulating depression however, if medication is specifically your goal, then she would the a good mental health specialist for you.

Dr. Young is truly exceptional. She is patient, reliable, and genuinely takes the time to listen. I never feel rushed during visits, and she always follows up to make sure my concerns are addressed. She’s responsive to requests and refills, and her kindness and professionalism make me feel well cared for. It’s rare to find a doctor who combines compassion with such attentiveness, and I’m grateful to have her as my provider.

Dr. Young has been absolutely instrumental in my journey to managing my mental heath. I have been a patient for several years now, and in that time she has provided critical treatment and support that completely changed the way I live my life. She worked with me to identify treatments that worked for me, always trusted me and listened to my experiences, and left room for my judgement and preferences in my treatments. She provides a very caring, open, and safe environment to speak about difficult topics and to work through problems. In my opinion, she sets the standard when it comes to the quality of care you should receive as a psychiatric patient. Her attention to detail, thoughtful treatment plans, and genuine desire for me to live a full and healthy life have all empowered me to manage my diagnoses, rather than let my symptoms overwhelm and control me. I would not trust my mental health to anyone else.

Dr. Young is straight forward and professional, but always friendly and easy to talk to. She's able to listen to what you have to say about your own experiences and offer feedback, which all too many other doctors don't give enough weight to. She's as open to suggestions as she is willing to give a professional critique of why that may or may not work, which invaluable in an expert in such a complicated profession. Can't recommend her enough.
