About Dr. Alexandra Anderson

HI THERE! MY NAME IS DR. ALEX ANDERSON BUT YOU CAN JUST CALL ME ALEX :) I AM A DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY, WHO IS BOARD CERTIFIED IN ORTHOPAEDIC PHYSICAL THERAPY AND FELLOWSHIP-TRAINED IN ORTHOPAEDIC MANUAL PHYSICAL THERAPY. I AM DRY NEEDLING CERTIFIED AND ALSO TREAT WOMEN’S HEALTH CONDITIONS. I am from the D.C. area originally and will always call Maryland home. I also have a special place in my heart for California, as that is where I received my PT education. My Fellowship program at the University of Illinois at Chicago brought me to the midwest, which is where I am currently practicing. My passion for starting The Physical Therapy Academy is to treat pain and movement dysfunction. I believe we are all meant to move and achieve pain free, efficient movement. This is my goal for all my patients. My knowledge of pain science, motor control, and exercise physiology allows me to incorporate techniques to retrain faulty movement. In addition to orthopaedics, I also treat a variety of women’s health conditions. Believe it or not, the pelvic floor also consists of muscle, which needs to be strong and functional, just like the rest of the body. By providing one-on-one, personalized care, I have discovered that better movement is possible for anyone willing to take on the challenge. The best part is that by working together, we can achieve this through thorough, efficient, and effective collaboration. So let’s get in touch and get you on your way to better movement. ALEX ANDERSON PT,DPT

Alex is a great PT! She takes the time to listen to how you are feeling and custom tailors the sessions to best help. She is easy to talk to and feels like a friend. Additionally, she never gives up; if one treatment doesn’t not help l, she has a variety of things to try next. Scheduling is easy and you can book sessions months in advance. She is excited to help!

Alex is the best. She is extremely communicative and has been able to work on my running issues like no other. Highly recommend her!
Alex is the best. She has been working with me to reduce my pain derived from running and correcting my running form like no other PT was able. Definitely recommend her.
Alex is a great PT. She listens to you even when you aren’t sure exactly what/why something might be hurting. She is professional while still making you feel comfortable. She helped me with back pain that wouldn’t go away for months and she tried EVERYTHING until something worked. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a PT who will listen, care, and find a solution.
Alex is amazing! She is so thorough in her diagnosis and treatment. I came to her clinic a few weeks before a marathon with knee/back pain. She was able to modify my running to reduce injury, as well as, provide exercises to improve strength/mobility. Her work made a huge difference in getting me to the start line healthy. So grateful!
Dr Alex is amazing - she listens and thinks outside the box for solutions that are both traditional and creative. She is always learning and expanding her knowledge. She has helped me so much on my journey- very grateful to work with her.
Dr. Alex is the absolute best. She has really made an improvement on my chronic ankle pain. She listens to what I tell her and then adjusts my treatment plan based on how I’m feeling.
Working with Alex at The Physical Therapy Academy has been the best PT experience! She practices from an evidence-based and client-centered perspective and has knowledge and skills in a variety of treatment strategies. Alex collaborates with me during sessions to apply the select treatment strategies best fit to address my specific issues. I feel genuinely supported by Alex and have seen improvements both physically, mentally, and emotionally. I highly recommend The Physical Therapy Academy and the providers there!
Dr. Alex is, hands down, the best PT I've seen (and I've seen many)! I went to Alex with three distinct pain points: 2 that had been bothering me for months and one that was recent. She really listened to me and did one of the most comprehensive consultations I've ever had. I felt like she genuinely cared about my health and treated my situation as a unique case rather than just giving a blanket diagnosis. She included me in the process, with full transparency regarding the potential causes and treatments for my injuries. In just three visits, she has helped me experience immediate physical relief AND she's given me agency in my own healing by teaching me exercises I can instantly apply and feel a difference. After seeing her, I'm feeling better, I'm more balanced (so my training is improving), and I feel hopeful that I'm on the road to full recovery.
First time going to see a physical therapist and loved the experience! Office was very clean and conveniently located close to work! Alex was a great listener and is helping me figure out the root of my foot pain! Will definitely be going back to see her!

Alex gave me one of the most thorough consultations I've ever received from a physical therapist. I went in with three issues (one muscle, one joint, and one nerve-related) and she addressed them all. She gave me exercises I would actually do at home, AND taught me how I could measure my metrics of success. The facility is stunning, Alex is exceptional at what she does, and I left feeling relieved, hopeful, and with a genuine sense of agency in my recovery process. Highly recommend.

This was easily the best medical experience I've had in my life. Alex is so personable, detail-oriented, and a true expert in her field. She takes an active approach with her patients, and answers any questions with extreme scientific clarity. She is just the best!!
Dr. Alex is awesome!! Solution oriented, warm, knowledgeable, and happened to have availability on very short notice for a time sensitive issue

I had the pleasure of working with Alexandra for physical therapy and couldn’t be more grateful. Alexandra is incredibly knowledgeable, reassuring, and brings such a positive energy to every session. She took the time to explain everything clearly and made me feel supported throughout my appointment. I would recommend Alexandra to anyone and everyone looking for an outstanding physical therapist!

Alex is really friendly and a great listener. She clearly has a lot of knowledge and tries different methods to help reduce pain. I’ve learned a lot about myself and where my sources of pain are and how to address them !
Alex was fantastic. She did a full neurological exam and was able to find the source of my pain. I feel comfortable with the treatment plan & look forward to resolution of my pain.

I had been dealing with sciatica pain down my right leg for two and a half years, and the pain often felt crippling. After trying chiropractic care and another physical therapist with limited success, I was recommended to see Alex, and it was the best decision I made. Alex immediately put me at ease, and her expertise and thorough approach set her apart. She carefully explained each exercise, making sure I understood how it should feel and its purpose. Her ability to adjust my treatment plan based on weekly progress gave me confidence in my recovery. What really stood out was how Alex taught me to understand my body—helping me distinguish between good and bad pain, and providing me with the tools to continue my progress on my own. Thanks to her, I've made significant strides in my recovery. I highly recommend Alex to anyone dealing with sciatica or similar issues.
Alex has never failed to help. She’s incredibly professional, caring, intelligent, and has clear expertise. I not only feel better after seeing her, but I always learn something too. As long as she’s in business, I will never see another PT.
Highly recommend! The therapist did an excellent job of isolating problem areas and designing exercises to help with the healing process.
From the first moment, Alexandra's consideration and empathy guided our time together. She asked important questions, shared valuable knowledge, and helped me figure out a way to manage my injury. As a former Division 1 athlete and current high school track and field coach, I find it easy to think I can find the answers related to my own physical journey; in spite of this, I absolutely trusted her throughout our time together. The strength testing and movement analysis supported my own understanding of my body and my injury in ways I hadn't considered. Thanks so much!
Dr Alex is an active, healthy, young female DPT who knows a variety of alternative therapies like dry needling, and blood flow restriction, in addition to typical PT techniques like EMS and muscular and joint strengthening exercises. She's worked with me and my partner for a number of years. She has a wealth of knowledge and a great network of resources to use as her treatment/service catalog. She also has a great set of recommended products to purchase (Amazon) to ensure her patients are equipped to support at home exercises to increase their potential for physical therapy success. She holds a positive while realistic mindset with her patient protocol which allows for a structured, yet balanced set of treatments. I enjoy and highly recommend her!
My visit with Dr. Alex was amazing. She made me feel comfortable and excited to take care of my on going knee pain. My first visit was incredibly informative. Dr. Alex looked at all my movement patterns relating to my knee pain. I explained all my typical exercises since I do mixed martial arts and she was able to give me exercises to address the issue on the spot! Within the same day I felt more confident and stable. I trained Muay Thai and felt like I was able to stabilize my body more during training. Overall I would highly recommend her to anyone, specially those who are very active and athletes. She will get you going in no time!
Alexandra, is a very nice person and professional. I have been training with her for 1 month and she has got that I train hard and enjoy doing it, at the same time. I have to stop my classes because I’m coming back to Spain but I’m sure that I’m going to contract her again in other occasions. I have had the opportunity to learn a lot of new exercises from her, all of them very nice for my muscles and for keeping me healthy, at the same time than strong. I’m very happy to have met her.
Alex is the best! She’s incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful and approaches care in a considerate, straightforward way. I always feel heard by her. Not only has she resolved several sports-related pains that needed addressing, but has also guided me in making improvements to my running form and other supporting exercises. Highly recommend!
Dr. Anderson not only helped me recover from an injury confidently and quickly, but also helped educate me in how to best take care of my body to avoid future complications and injuries down the road which I really appreciate.
