Hi there, I'm Aliya! My name is Aliya Rocker, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a Master's in Social Work from Howard University. I work with adults of all ages who want to work through life challenges and progress toward their goals. Whether clients are dealing with depression, anxiety, age-related concerns, chronic health conditions, or need a listening ear, I use person-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused approaches to help clients figure out their next steps and future goals. My approach I believe each client has strengths to achieve their goals. I approach therapy primarily from person-centered and strengths-based perspectives. Depending on the client and situation, we may use Motivational Interviewing and/or Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I believe people know what they need or want to work toward, and my job is to help them discover a plan for growth. My focus I typically work with clients from young adults to seniors who have chronic conditions, anxiety, depression, grief, or are experiencing major life changes. My communication style I aim for clients to feel heard and valued. I create a space where clients feel safe to share, be vulnerable, and be challenged toward growth. My journey to mental healthcare During college, I went to therapy. It was life-changing. I decided to become a therapist to provide similar support to others. I take therapy and being a therapist seriously. It's an honor to be trusted by a stranger seeking support, and I strive to be a respectful and safe space for my clients. My goals for you Clients are the experts in identifying their goals. My job is to help sift through thoughts and feelings to pinpoint priority goals and the "why" that sustains them.
