Alyson Lemard, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
The one constant in life is change. If you are going through any life transition—whether work to retirement, empty nest, entering the workforce, menopause transition, career change, or something else—and you are struggling to find direction or the right fit, I can support you through these changes. Together, we can chart a path that uses your skills, experiences, and strengths. I work with adults around issues related to adjustment, anxiety, depression, stress management, grief, loss, and navigating the inevitable changes that life brings. My approach is strength-based and person-centered. While my overall approach is psychodynamic, I utilize techniques such as CBT, solution-focused, and problem-solving therapies. My fundamental belief is that therapy should not last forever, but you can learn skills in therapy that you can use forever and develop a sense of self-efficacy. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University at Lincoln Center, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support clients through life’s transitions. If you are struggling to adjust to what life throws your way, know that you are not alone and that you can feel better. Change is never easy, but adjusting to it is possible, and there is opportunity for growth and new beginnings. You can unlock potential and tap into strengths that you did not know you possess. So reach out, and let’s start the next chapter.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The main issues I help with are anxiety, depression, stress management, life transitions, and career goals. A typical treatment plan involves identifying the goals for therapy and the actions that we will take to reach those goals. The benefits that you can expect are improved understanding of your particular situation, the actions/behaviors that help or worsen them, and improved self-efficacy.
