Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Amy! As a licensed clinical social worker, I specialize in helping people navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. I know it takes a lot of courage to start therapy, and I want to honor that step you've taken to care for yourself. I have a special passion for vulnerable populations such as youth, women, trauma survivors, and those who have experienced significant loss. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel understood and empowered. My approach I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of meaningful change, so I begin by getting to know you and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we'll identify your goals and create a path that feels supportive and effective for you. I often use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you recognize and reshape unhelpful thought patterns, and I enjoy sharing resources-whether from your community or books, articles, and websites-that can deepen your growth outside of sessions. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), crisis intervention, trauma treatment, and perinatal mood disorders, which allows me to bring a range of tools to our work. Through our time together, I will regularly check in with you to ensure you feel supported, that therapy is meeting your needs, and that you are making progress toward the change you want in your life. My focus My ideal clients are individuals navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief, and who want a safe and affirming space to feel understood and supported. I have a special passion for working with women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as those facing challenges in their workplaces or relationships. I also have a lot of experience supporting parents of special needs children and helping parents navigate divorce and blended families.
