Amy Scarano, LCSW

Amy Scarano, LCSW

Psychotherapist
DC
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I maintain my licensure to practice as a therapist in Pennsylvania & Washington, DC. I have worked in the mental health field for 18 years in a variety of settings including prisons, psychiatric units, hospitals and outpatient clinics. My varied experiences have given me a chance to see all different types of life issues and help people fix the parts of their lives that are in disarray or simply not working as smoothly as preferred. I treat each client as an individual and assess each life experience only once I understand the facts that bring you to my practice. I consider myself a humanist by nature and affirm our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good. That said, change is hard and is often as simple as pairing yourself up with the right helper along the way. Kindness to yourself goes a long way. I am flexible with my clients and follow their lead. I also welcome any feedback about how my approach is helpful or not. I want to make sure that I am well-aware of your feelings regarding our work together. ?My goal is to help you embrace and recognize your strengths, while finding healthy ways to change or cope with the parts of your life that aren't working as well as you'd like. I'm a firm believer in compassion, empathy and the power of a solid therapeutic relationship. We are a team – but you are the expert of your own life experience. It’s my job to learn how to best help you. I live in Philadelphia, PA with my wife and two children.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
