Getting to know Brooke Shorrab

"Hello, I'm Brooke, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. My journey in mental health began with personal struggles early in life, which motivated me to volunteer as a crisis worker at a local suicide hotline during my first year of college. This experience ignited my passion for helping others, leading me to spend the next decade supporting individuals in dual diagnosis treatment. I later pursued my MSEd in counseling from Youngstown State University, graduating in 2017, and have since been dedicated to supporting children and adolescents in the Mahoning Valley as a clinical mental health therapist. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that understanding how core beliefs and past experiences influence present struggles is essential for growth and change. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), along with acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, and mindfulness techniques. I enjoy tailoring coping strategies to meet the unique needs of each individual, ensuring a personalized and effective therapeutic experience. I specialize in treating a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders (such as derealization), self-esteem issues, body image acceptance, LGBTQIA+ support (including gender and sexual identity exploration and transition), bipolar disorder, ADHD, ODD, and anger management. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and work towards your personal goals. Outside of my professional life, I am deeply committed to continuous personal growth and self-improvement. It is my hope that your intention to seek care aligns with my passion for helping others and myself do better. Together, we can navigate the challenges you face and work towards a brighter, more fulfilling future.
