Jan Weng, LPC

Jan Weng, LPC

Psychotherapist
DC
I am a licensed therapist in Virginia and Washington, DC, holding my Virginia license for ten years and my DC license for eight years. I have worked in mental health for more than 35 years, primarily in substance abuse treatment and mostly in residential programs, although most of my experience as a licensed clinician has been in outpatient settings. I love working with what is now called substance use disorder, but I also address trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, and grief. I provide individual, group, couples, and family counseling. I am an EMDR practitioner and am currently working toward my EMDRIA certification. I am also versed in Internal Family Systems and, like Dr. Dick Schwartz, studied and received supervision at the Georgetown Family Center under Drs. Murray Bowen and Michael Kerr. Additionally, I have taken trainings in Sensory Motor Experiencing with Peter Levine and Pat Ogden, Polyvagal Theory with Dr. Stephen Porges and Deb Dana, and Inter-relational Neurobiology with Dr. Dan Siegel. I earned my MEd in Counseling Psychology from George Mason University. Currently, I serve as the Clinical Director at Catalyst Recovery and Wellness and am looking to expand my services in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. I love working with people and witnessing their surprise at discovering the riches in their own journeys. Working with others in this way guides me in my own human adventure and teaches me how better to serve and be helpful in the world.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When I am successful with clients, they are progressively better able to value their own struggles and as they see themselves as operating with a clear mind according to what they value and believe. And, at last, they feel safe in their own skin, here & now.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
