Hello, I'm Jose L. Diaz, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and D.C. with 18 years of experience. I have had the privilege to to meet a variety of people in some of the most challenging times of their lives. Being an intimate part of clients lives, and connecting with their challenges, pain and suffering has allowed me to understand individuals beyond my clinical abilities. I have always understood the human component that we all possess and resilience is what we use to harness the recovery and healing towards your well-being. I integrate evidence-based methods including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care into my counseling approach.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Over time, clients have conveyed a common desire: to gain deeper self-understanding and unravel the origins of their challenges, ultimately learning how to overcome them and live with relief. In our sessions, we delve into your mental and emotional experiences to grasp their roots, paving the way for tailored strategies that address your distinct needs.

I just want to say that I am blessed to have been matched with Jose. He has truly helped me in my development in becoming the version of myself that I know will honor the life I want to live. I just wanted to say that Jose Diaz is an amazing person. He understand me and help me with mental issue and battling with my anxiety. I couldn’t live with my life without help. I needed help. I needed someone who can help with this. I didn’t want to feel alone. And when I went to see Jose. He just open my eyes and mind about life and struggles we as human go through. He gives me great technique to help with my mental issues.

My visit with therapist, Jose Diaz, was welcoming. He made me feel very comfortable and relaxed during our session discussing my areas of concerns for therapeutic treatment. He's very attentive! I feel like I've known him all of my life. He's more like family than a therapist to me. He's easy to talk to and non-judgemental.

I’ve worked with Jose for some time now. I continue to work with him and highly recommend him to others because he is exceptional at helping you either get through what you are going through and/or help you get to where you want to be. Over the time we have worked together, he has done exactly that for me. Goal after goal, step by step. My life has been on a steady upward path for a long time now while working with him and he has been an absolute rockstar in helping me figure out what’s wrong/what changes could help/how to execute those changes/how to stay positive/focused/ and most importantly how to keep moving forward. He is highly professional, warm, intelligent, kind, and understanding. He does not get rattled and is consistent through each and every appointment. He responds quickly when you reach out and starts every appointment promptly. I had tried several therapists before him without much success. That has absolutely not been the case with Jose. 5stars,very highly recommend

Jose has a special skill and is able to see the real you very quickly. His intuition mixed with his experience in the field, makes him not only a great ally but a coach giving you tangible things to work on and new ways to view trauma, discomfort, actions of others, decisions you’ve made, etc. Like many patients, I came to him in crisis and it might have been the best decision I’ve made. He has helped me get through the extremely painful days, make sense of the wreckage, and move on. He reminds me of how far I’ve come and encourages me to really “go for it” now. He’s down to earth, always greets you with a smile and knows to give tough advice with grace. Highly recommend!
