Lindsay King, LPC

Psychotherapist
DC
I’m Lindsay King, an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) specializing in child and family therapy. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University and am licensed to practice in DC and VA. I’m also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and an active member of the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA) and the American Counseling Association (ACA). Most of my experience has been with urban and minority communities along the Eastern Seaboard (NYC, DC, ATL, Asheville, and Tampa Bay). My clients include kids and families, parents/caregivers, teens, schools, and urban communities. Many come to therapy facing stress, transitions, academic challenges, community violence/injustice, foster care/adoption, and diagnoses such as generalized and social anxiety, ADHD, ASD, developmental delays, and attachment issues. I am dedicated to serving kids, caregivers, communities, and especially underserved clients through my work as an LPC and consultant. In sessions, I blend DBT-Informed Skills Training and Expressive Therapies. DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) focuses on building skills like mindfulness and emotion regulation to help clients stay calm and centered in stressful situations. Expressive Therapies use visual arts, writing, drama, music, movement, and media to create meaningful therapeutic interventions that foster healing and change. Through fun and engaging activities, kids and caregivers become invested in therapy. Research shows expressive therapies effectively promote therapeutic progress. In therapy with me, kids and families will feel safe, seen, and heard. Using trauma-informed, culturally relevant approaches, clients are supported to live with more joy and authenticity. I model and reinforce these values in therapy, trainings, and my work as a mental health advocate, author, actor, and vocal artist.
