Getting to know Lindsay Sussman

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker who is dedicated to creating a compassionate, grounded, and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel seen, supported, and understood. I believes therapy is a collaborative journey that honors each person’s lived experiences while helping them build clarity, resilience, and emotional balance. My approach is warm, human, and rooted in the belief that meaningful change becomes possible when people feel safe enough to share their inner experiences. I work with adults, supporting individuals navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, life transitions, postpartum experiences, and everyday stress. My work focuses on helping clients understand patterns in their thoughts and emotions, strengthen emotional regulation skills, and reconnect with their personal strengths. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, and strengths-based techniques, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the individual. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University and has trained in a variety of clinical settings, including foster care, insurance care coordination, college counseling, and work with young adults with learning differences. She has also completed additional training in ACT, DBT skills, harm reduction, and substance use disorders. I have developed a flexible and integrative approach that allows me to adapt therapy to each client’s goals and comfort level.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In sessions with me, clients can expect a combination of practical tools and meaningful emotional exploration. Using approaches like CBT and DBT, I help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and build emotional resilience. Through mindfulness and ACT, I work with clients to practice grounding techniques, clarify personal values, and develop greater awareness of the present moment. My trauma-informed approach ensures that therapy moves at a pace that feels safe and empowering. Solution-focused and strengths-based methods help highlight existing capabilities and support forward progress.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients often describe my style as warm, collaborative, and grounding. I value authenticity and strive to create a space where clients can show up exactly as they are, without pressure or judgment. My goal is to walk alongside clients as they navigate challenges, recognize their strengths, and reconnect with a sense of possibility.
