Lita Berry, LICSW

Psychotherapist
DC
I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Hyattsville Maryland. My background is in mental health, where I support clients through life transitions, trauma, substance use, depression, and anxiety. My approach to therapy is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can share your experiences. My approach My approach is to provide what clients need at the moment. I believe the client is the expert on their journey and I am here to listen and support them every step of the way. My theoretical approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-informed, and Person-centered which we will use to explore behaviors, and difficult emotions, and work to build resilience and uncover client strengths. My focus My client focus is adults who struggle with competing obligations that overwhelm their well-being and create stress in their lives. I treat older adults who are challenged by work and family life transitions and new caregiving roles. Individuals seeking a path forward from trauma and those entering sobriety are also part of my clinical focus. My communication style I understand that this may be the first time seeking therapy and there may be uncertainty about what to expect. My style is calm, reassuring, and encouraging. You can confidently talk about your concerns knowing that I will listen and collaborate with you to address what's impacting your well-being. Working with me will be challenging, I assign homework and provide worksheets and links that promote discussion and new ideas. My journey to mental healthcare I've always wanted to help people solve problems to create a better life. I believe taking time to listen and giving clients a platform to talk about their concerns is the first and most important step in therapy. What drives me to do this work is breaking down barriers that impede growth, and improving how clients feel about themselves so they can rediscover hope and joy and learn to embrace new things.

Difficult to sign up. Kept kicking me out and making me enter my email. I swear I entered my email 17 times. Then, after I finally was able to get online, 10 minutes after my appointment, the doctor never showed up. I was essentially stood up.
