Manuel Olvera, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
If you’re overwhelmed by anxiety, panic, anger, stress, or patterns from the past repeating in your relationships – you’re not alone. Nearly every family is affected by mental health struggles. Many of us were not taught or allowed to express emotions as kids. Talking about personal problems or working through conflict with others can be difficult. Your thoughts, behaviors, and interactions with others can be affected by trauma, depression, or anger. These patterns can also shape how you see yourself – leading to instability, low self-esteem, or not feeling good enough. Therapy can help you understand yourself, heal from the past, and feel more calm and grounded. You’re making an important decision. If you're ready to start, I’d be honored to work with you. As a therapist, I give feedback and information, but my main job is listening and providing judgment-free support for you to express yourself and feel your full range of emotions. I use IFS, Brainspotting, and CBT to support healing in the mind and body. I use the Gottman Method for couples and work individually with each partner when needed.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I help adults and teens work through trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD-related challenges, and relationship issues, so they can feel more calm, grounded, and connected. I try to be calm, understanding, and nonjudgmental so you can express yourself and experience your full range of emotions. Having clear goals is important to keep us on track. I’ll help you break your goals down into small, manageable steps.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will talk about your reasons for seeking therapy. We will review some of your background information. I'll introduce you to some mental health concepts, and we will discuss your goals for the future. I was interested in other subjects during college, but I had to take a psychology class. I really liked the class so I decided to make psychology my major. I worked part time as a cook until I finished my bachelors and a masters degree. I got my first job as a therapist in 2015.
