Getting to know Michelle Lee

Hello, my name is Michelle. I believe therapy is a time to examine internalized experiences that shape our perspectives and behaviors. Engaging in introspective work together can challenge us to reframe maladaptive thoughts. I aim to assist clients with managing emotional dysregulation and symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, and trauma in a safe, nonjudgmental space. I hope to foster growth and strengthen coping skills during difficult transitional points in a person's life. I am interested in exploring my clients' family of origin and attachment styles. I have a special sensitivity to sociocultural factors and intergenerational trauma. I embrace the complexities that make up the lived experiences of my clients and affirm their unique identities. I welcome all individuals and couples looking to deepen their relationship with themselves and others. I am an online therapist serving clients in the state of Maryland, and I take a collaborative approach to therapy while embracing humor and eccentricity throughout the process. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Maryland, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support my clients effectively.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Life presents us with the full spectrum of positive and negative experiences. Learning skills to process and cope with difficult moments allows us to grow and thrive. I hope to assist you with maximizing your internal processes and gaining meaningful insights.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

She was super nice and immediately determined different pathways we could talk through related to what I came to her about

The therapist was nice but her questions became repetitive and showed little to no empathy when talking about traumas.

Very empathetic, yet direct in her therapeutic style. A very competent professional. Would recommend.

An outstanding provider for therapy.

I'm a very macho manly man so I scoffed at the very idea of therapy. I mean not only am I so super manly but I'm the back to back winner of the county chili cook-off. What could a man with what the judges say is the best chili in the ENTIRE COUNTY need therapy for. After my first appointment good golly gosh did my world get turned upside down. Now not only do I have 2 time award winning chili but also peace of mind which would likely leave me fulfilled even without the 2 time award winning chili but I'll never know because like I said 2times.

This was my first therapy session with Michelle. She was very attentive to what I had to say when I described my past and relationships. Since this was our first session I’m excited to see what we can accomplish in future appointments, because I feel that the issues I want to tackle and understand, align well with what she focuses on. This journey will hopefully help me resolve or come to terms with some of my issues.

After doing extensive research to find the right provider for my needs, I knew I made the right choice in my very first session with Michelle Lee. Her approach was thorough, delving into areas that had not been explored in previous (and multiple) sessions with another provider. The insight and exploration we achieved in just one session far surpassed my expectations.

She made me feel like Myself again
I had a great session with Michelle. We discussed a lot in a short period of time and I never felt rushed. I am excited to continue our sessions.
Video visit
The ability for the therapist to summarize from their unbiased opinion to the underlying issue from their view point, helped put into words the individuals 'sense' from a non emotional standpoint.
