Getting to know Michelle Meyerovich

I've had the honor of working with adults, adolescents, and children specializing in Trauma, Depression, Grief/Bereavement, and Anxiety Disorders. My clinical interests currently include perinatal mental health (infertility, pregnancy, birth, adoption, adjustment to parenthood), depression, anxiety, attachments, trauma, life transitions, multicultural issues (including immigration and acculturation), emerging adulthood, and identity development. I guide my clients in an embodied approach to becoming “unstuck” from old patterns of relating to themselves, others, and the world that often hinder connection and growth and perpetuate emotional distress using Somatic Experiencing®. I meet you where you are, blending SE™ with Mindfulness and your own internal wisdom, connecting your intellect, body, and senses. These shifts restore self-regulation lost to physical and emotional trauma and may allow you to rediscover your sense of aliveness, relaxation, and wholeness. The process is gentle and gradual, working with your resilience and capacity for regulation. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the City University of New York, Baruch College, and a Certificate in Trauma and Disaster Mental Health Counseling from the State University of New York, New Paltz.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that part of one’s journey in therapy includes a collaborative and hopefully healing therapeutic relationship involving trust, empathy, confidentiality, authenticity, and courage. I identify as an ever growing inclusive psychodynamic psychotherapist who utilizes various embodied approaches.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I incorporate all of my authentic self and professional training to create an in-depth eclectic and comprehensive experience for you whether as a psychotherapist, supervisor or founder.

She is amazing and kind!!! I feel heard, understood and content. I recommend EVERYONE to work with Michelle.
Deciding to work with Michelle has been the best decision I ever made. She is professional, understanding, attentive, compassionate & knowledgeable. She is the light that the world doesn't know it needs. She saved my life.
Admitting to myself that therapy would help me was extremely difficult. I came from a background where asking for help was shamefully weak, and one's problems should be solved by one's self. Depression and anxiety are quite the duo, and when I felt like I was drowning and on one of my last breaths, I wrote an email to Michelle to start my therapy, or more so, to start my life long journey of taking back control of myself. Michelle created a safe, nonjudgemental environment where I truly felt like I could just let my unfiltered self out and feel accepted. Michelle's wide and diverse knowledge on various techniques to help me deal with my mental health made me regret ever doubting therapy and its benefits. Her patience and compassion was felt in every session. Taking back one's control is not an easy path, but with Michelle it felt possible and encouraging.
