Getting to know Sarah Charmchi

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner and director of Serenity Psychotherapy Group, LLC. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Behavioral and Community Health in 2012 from the University of Maryland College Park, and later attended the Catholic University of America, where I earned my master’s degree with honors in social work. I understand that therapy is a vulnerable experience. As a clinician, I place great value in my clients' ability to trust their therapist as an ally while actively working together to create a non-judgmental, safe space for them to gain insight and grow. Due to living a life full of varied experiences, I am able to easily relate to my clients' unique requests while providing culturally sensitive care for their specific needs. My passion and empathy to help others have always been my guide to providing the most compassionate services to my clients. During my tenure in the field of social services, I have supported many individuals from diverse backgrounds and ages and practiced in a variety of settings, including advocacy programs, residential settings, non-profit agencies, government agencies, and college setting. These experiences, as well as the extensive clinical education, have provided me with the opportunity to work through the most challenging cases while applying a comprehensive and culturally appropriate approach. Additionally, as a bilingual therapist fluent in English and Farsi, I understand the importance of multicultural sensitivity during treatment, and I am, therefore, proud to provide psychotherapy services to the Farsi-speaking community as well. Overall, my compassion, unique life experiences, and extensive training has helped me become a more effective therapist who strives to create a comfortable, safe, and non-judgmental environment to serve as a guide in my clients' growth journey. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hosting events and exploring new places.

I encourage open dialogue and trust-building, ensuring that you feel comfortable sharing your concerns and aspirations. I am committed to tailoring my approach to meet your unique needs and preferences. During your visit, we will dedicate time to further discuss the most appropriate therapeutic style and approach, setting clear expectations and fostering a strong therapeutic alliance from the very beginning. Your well-being is my utmost priority, and I look forward to accompanying you on your path towards healing and personal growth.
