Shalini Singh, LMHC

Psychotherapist
NY
I work with individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and grief and loss. Often, the people I meet are holding more than they show, feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to carry that alone. Together, we’ll gently explore what’s beneath the surface of your experiences while also building practical coping tools you can use in your everyday life. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more confident in yourself, and more connected to a life that feels meaningful and aligned. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and specialize in an integrative, evidence-based approach to therapy, combining Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. This means we’ll not only work toward understanding the deeper patterns behind your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, but also focus on emotional regulation, stress management, and building healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges. Therapy with me is both reflective and practical centered on insight, growth, and sustainable change. I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental therapy environment where you can feel safe to show up as you are. I’ll meet you with curiosity, respect, and care, while also staying actively engaged in helping you move forward. Finding the right therapist is an important and personal decision, and I honor that process. Whether we work together or not, you deserve support that feels right for you. If you’re looking for a therapist who offers personalized, collaborative therapy for anxiety, trauma, and emotional growth, I’m here to support you in taking that next step.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means stepping into a space where you can feel supported, understood, and free to be yourself without judgment. I offer individual therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, and relationship challenges, and I approach each person with the understanding that no two experiences are the same. Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all, it’s shaped around you, your story, and what you’re hoping to move toward. In our sessions, I’m not a distant observer. I’m actively engaged with you. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, reflect patterns I notice, and offer gentle, honest feedback to help you gain clarity and insight. At the same time, we’ll build practical tools you can use in your daily life, whether that’s managing anxiety, navigating intense emotions, or working through difficult transitions. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more empowered, and more connected to yourself. My approach is integrative and evidence based. I draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, weaving these approaches together in a way that fits your needs. This means we can explore the deeper roots of what you’re experiencing while also focusing on skills that support emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and meaningful change. I also believe that therapy should feel collaborative and responsive. I check in with you regularly to make sure our work feels helpful and aligned with what you need. Your voice matters deeply in this process. Every part of you is welcome here, and I’m here to support you as you heal, grow, and create a life that feels more steady, intentional, and true to who you are.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together as a team. I bring my clinical expertise, and you bring your experiences, needs, and goals. Together, we’ll identify what feels most important to you and develop an approach that best supports your growth and healing. We’ll establish therapy goals early on and revisit them regularly to ensure our work continues to feel meaningful, effective, and aligned with what you want to achieve. Your first session is a chance for us to get to know one another. It’s a space for you to share your story and for me to learn how to best support you through my therapeutic training and experience. You’ll also have the opportunity to get a sense of my style and ask any questions you may have. From there, we’ll continue the work in ongoing sessions, building momentum at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for you.

To make the financial side of therapy as smooth and stress-free as possible, I work with a trusted third-party billing service to process in-network insurance claims. Your eligibility for in-network mental/behavioral health services will be verified prior to our scheduled intake session. Completing the requested paperwork in a timely manner helps ensure everything is set up smoothly so we can focus on what truly matters, your care. If I am considered an out-of-network provider for your insurance and you choose to work with me, I’m happy to support you in navigating the reimbursement process. This typically involves submitting claims directly to your insurance company for partial reimbursement of your therapy fees, and I’ll guide you through what to expect so you don’t have to manage it alone. Insurance can feel confusing, especially when you’re not sure what questions to ask. Whether you’re seeking in-network or out-of-network services, the questions below can help you better understand your coverage and feel more empowered from the start of your therapy journey: Helpful questions to ask your insurance provider: 1. Am I covered to see a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor under my current plan? 2. Does my plan cover individual therapy? 3. If seeking couples counseling, does my plan include coverage for couples therapy? 4. Is there a limit on the number of covered sessions for individual or couples therapy? I share these questions to help you feel informed, confident, and in control as you begin therapy. If you ever feel unsure or need support along the way, I’m here to help guide you through the process.
