Getting to know Shannon Baker

Threatening or painful events can change the way we see the world and ourselves. I help clients who are feeling distressed by their past as they try to live their daily lives. I enjoy working with clients who need a listener to sit with them after a difficult time and gently navigate a path to better well-being. I believe there are many ways to heal, including the use of EMDR. Never heard of it? That's okay. I'm very approachable and won't judge you. You are not alone. Let's talk! I hold a Master's in Counseling from Walsh University, which has equipped me with the skills to support you on your healing journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy sessions will help you understand the psychological impact of setbacks, losses, and traumatic experiences. Sessions will provide you with new ways to manage your distress. After sessions, I would expect you to feel some relief from having shared your story and learned new skills for coping. Therapy will help you develop exercises that invite feelings of peace and safety. EMDR frees you from feeling as though trauma is still happening to you. As sessions progress, therapy can help you strengthen positive beliefs about yourself.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

She allowed me to take a break to process some hard feelings. That meant so much to me as a person who is always trying to suppress those feelings.
Shannon has been a stable presence as I am going through unimaginable life changes and difficult situations. She is able to bring me back from a spiral to tangible, uplifting ideas that help keep me grounded.
Shannon is a compassionate and insightful therapist who offers support without being condescending. She is open-minded, adaptable, and skillfully balances both long-term goals and immediate challenges, tailoring each session to your needs. Her extensive knowledge and diverse range of therapeutic approaches allow her to provide guidance that aligns with your unique situation. I highly recommend her as a therapist.
I have never stuck with a therapist before but, Shannon makes me feel comfortable and gives me the space to move at my own pace even when I’m not sure what that pace is. She holds space for my emotions which is huge for me because I struggle with vulnerability. I have no doubt that I will continue my therapy journey with her.
She’s great. I love her.
